    Re: Spiderbox Owners Chat!

    hi Archmage

I think you first of all need to do is check which sats you can receive, program them in your box (if this hasn't been done already) and do some scans (manually, auto, blind - as you prefer). Which dish and lnb's do you have?

As said, I can only help with 'general' things - how it really has to be done on the spiders must come from a real owner
When I look at other boxes: there's always some kind of a channeleditor available (sort, favourites, delete, ...).

If I knew how to make a channel list I would have done it already, I am trying to work out how to do it now.
The problem with the Spiderbox is that when everything worked, it just worked, you didn't need to know anything.
TBH I don't know how to look at a satellite that isn't on my channel list yet, and that also means I can't use the lines on here because I don't know what Satellite to go to .

PS. I don't mind you interfering! I will accept help from any source!

    hi Archmage

Personally, I have a bit of bad experiences with using another one's channellist - I used it on some boxes (no spiders tbh) to compare with what I want, but I really believe it's better to make your own channellist - can save you a lot of trouble and headache afterwards

ps sorry to interfere here, without owning one of them

    Re: Spiderbox Owners Chat!

I suppose it makes sense, if you don't have a channel list then what are you going to exit to?
I did the reset because I wanted to get rid of the channel list! It was full up with stuff I will never watch and I couldn't scan anything. I have no idea how to move the dish without the list or delete the channels I don't want, so I have a lot of playing to do.
In the meantime, does anyone know a link to a channel list that might include the channels on the Satlover server?
If there are any other SD5000 users here could you please post what patches etc you are using, I would appreciate knowing what works properly.

I did a reset to factory default on my SD5000, but now I can't get out of the setup screens
Pressing exit gets me out of the sub menus but no further back, I have no idea what to do now, can anyone help?

Oh the joys of not having a manual!
I worked out that you have to have a channel list installed.

    hi loadedboyuk

I'm not sure about the Spiders, but some boxes need to be restarted to get the cline active/connected

Your file has to be in the cfg format not txt What I do is save it as a txt file on your computer, then go to it and rename it to a cfg file. Here is an example "CCcam.txt" when renamed becomes "CCcam.cfg" it should enter your spidy no problem in this format.

    Re: Spiderbox Owners Chat!

    Hello people

I have a little issue, trying to write Clines via a txt file on USB, I save the file to usb, select file from usb menu, confirm the config yes/no question but when I check the client set-up screen the c-line have not updated. I have a SB9000HD-Combo.

    Any advice would be great

You can't enter cw keys into the Spiderbox only BISS keys will work.

    N: ***.X.X.X 25000 0102030405060708091011121314 {CAID/PROVID}

    and one like:

    U: username password

Where ***.X.X.X is the IP Address of your PC

and CAID is the Conditional Access ID eg 0963 Sky UK (as per the Sky Active CWs that were active earlier today)

and PROVID is the Provider ID eg 000000 (as per the Sky Active CWs that were active earlier today)

username is the username you want

and password is the password you want

(it would be CAID 0100, PROVID 000068 for Cyfra+ in Mediaguard, you can usually find lists of CAIDs/PROVIDs if you look around)

also be sure to put a "# " ("hash & a space" in the examples you don't want in the FaustoServers.cfg file)

    Save the FaustoServers.cfg
Then start the Fausto Client (Again under Server TAB on Fausto there is the Manager TAB, Load and Start).

On your Spiderbox on the accessory menu select Network go into Client Set up and set a Newcamd account with the same info:

    Type: NEWCAMD
    Name or IP Address: ***.X.X.X
    Port: 25000
    ID: username
    Password: password
    DES Key: 0102030405060708091011121314
    and Apply

Not perfect, and sometimes you have to highlight the Active CW in Fausto under the CW TAB and click Fixed CW on the main Fausto Monitor menu, but works.

Thank you for that info empb, very interesting. I believe that what thecrazybandit meant was inputting them directly into the box, but this is certainly a work-around that is worth looking at.

as we all talking about lines here and there, i found that if you have too many lines, (that was in my box)>8 lines i had.
problems opening chns, especially hd, cure was that i removed 5 lines, now only using 3, chns now open in seconds.
so best not to be greedy, too many lines causes a lot of confliction, a couple of good ones is all you require, thats what i found anyway.
    comments welcome.

I find that the spiderbox works better for me with 1 n line and 2 c lines any more than this and it becomes unwatchable with lots of glitches
