The only benefit of a multi lnb setup over motorised is the faster channel change between satellites.
once you start adding lnb's it does start to become very expensive.
I'd go for a motor every time.

Yes Bokkie. I had thought about it after i posted my reply. You won't need to move dish everytime you change channels on different satellites. But it still restricts you to only 4 satellites.

I have 4, but I know there's one up to 8 sats (******: visio big sat or something) - don't know if it works well.

          There's a wave frontier t90 with 16 lnb's.
Must have cost a fortune for that setup.

WoW!! £175 for a 90cm dish and 4 inverto LNB's , by simply googling. on Ebay Inverto LNB's costing about £15 including delivery and a mutifeed inverto feedhorn is at least £24.

this was my first multifeed, then my last, 2 dishes, 2 diseqc switches by 4 ports each, 2 cables into a/b switch into house, what a mess, before i installed motor.

              picture crap, (picture from picture)

Yes, I am looking at my budget. A couple of months ago got an openbox just for fun but I think I am getting into it and enjoying it. You can see that I spend most of my time on the forum when I am not at work.

                    hi

I know the most of you (certainly the experts) probably won't agree, but I'm very pleased with my 4 sats ; I know some people with motorised dishes and they too have problems, such as: regularly needs re-adjustment and motor got stuck. As 'a quick zapper' I find the zapping speed between my sats very satisfying.
It's true with a motor there are even more possibilities (sats).

I won't disagree with you pan1100, We were just looking at the costs thats all. 4 LNBs on 1 dish would perform better, i would think. Do you ever get low signal on any satellite? My thinking was that we would need a slightly bigger dish for 4 LNBs to get the high signal.

                        hi

No, all my sats are received very well (Astra 1, 2, 3 and hotbird) - I'm in Belgium.
Signal is not perfect, but I think this has more to do with the box/tuner. Quality is very good.
I have one of those Visiosat HD bisat dishes (think about 90x70 cm).
Only thing I'm a bit sorry for is that I didn't take double lnb's (for 2 sats).

I am pleased that you are getting good signal. I am a total noobe to the sat world. Which one is more difficult to set up, Multiple LNB's or Motorised dish? I am in England

My personal opinion is to let an expert do your installation. Ok, it'll cost you something, but you're sure it's installed as it should be (with necessary meters/tools for optimal alignment). Otherwise (and I refer to other forums) there's a real chance for problems, frustrations and discussions - where in the end still a professional will have to come to sort things out and it will cost you even more then.

Again - is personal - a good set-up is the base for all the rest.

microchick, as you say you in england, an if you go for multi-set-up, your best sats would be, 28e, 23e, 19, 13e. that is my opinion, plenty to view on those. plus the benefit of fast channel change.

Thanks for the advise. The area I live in England its gonna cost about £120 for the installation. I am difinitely thinking of installing one before summer. I have learnt a lot on this forum.
