A significant advantage is the processor. Vu+ uno has 400 mhz processor but dm800 hd pvr has 300 mhz processor. In addition, vu+ uno has bigger ram (512 mb) than dm800 hd pvr (256 mb of ram).

Vu+ uno is also original, presuming that you're comparing it to a clone dm800. Uno is also upgradeable to a twin tuner.
The uno all day long for me.

So from 256 to 512 mb ram, what difference would you notice?

The Uno runs a Dual Core 405mhz processor and not a single one as the DM800, it also has a later revsion BCM chipset which is the 7413 compared to the 800's 73xx series

Do you think Uno have better Tuner than Dreambox ? For a STB Tuner is main component

I mean will this result in faster channel zapping? How will the user feel the difference?

zapping does not requires rocket speed cpu, isn't it ?

cpu power is required for multi tuner, transcoding, hd, streaming ...

media center : (dec + hd) as a home server ( ... but still ... , this requires more bandwith and access dik than calculus )

When I upgraded from my vu+ duo to my solo2 the channel zapping was much quicker on the solo2. Don't know if you'll notice the same with an uno though.

DM800 have very low Internal memory, So you have very limited choice for Plugins and other media stuff

Is channel zapping in vu+ faster than dreambox?

I don't know about that, I'm comparing vu+ duo which took a couple of seconds to the vu+ solo2 which is almost instantaneous. The point I'm trying to make is that extra processing power does seem to make a slight difference to zapping speed.

Did you try different images on vu+ duo ? Some images are slower than others. Also using a DiSEqC makes zapping slower.

... this confuses my conception of the zapping process ...

as i think that the zap process from

launches a key request (send, receive), and this is not instantaneous
