Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
I've bought a few s10's for friends that are new to the sat scene and don't want to pay out much to get started. My only experience was to set one up & have it running for a day or so before handing it over, and tbh I was presently surprised at how well it performed. The picture quality was as good as a spiderHD I would say, even my duo on HD channels. Tested a CCcam line & nlines on this box and it was pretty rock solid.
Where it did fall over in my opinion was the max channel limit (5000), this was filled up very quickly on a 1.2 dish across Europe.
A bad point I found was the lack of response from the remote, you really need to point directly at the box for it to be picked up. The v3 remote seemed to be the better looking remote and the v5 remote, well the back piece which holds the battery's falls off to easily.
The feed back I've had from the 3 friends who have had these now for more than a few month is quite positive but I've got a little niggle in the back of my mind about loss of signal, only 2 of them have complained about losing signal but they have reported back that a reboot has sorted it, which makes me wonder is it the box or is it a dish aliment problem... I'm beginning to think it maybe a box/firmware issue but for £60 these aren't that bad.Comment

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
The remote is ok, nothing great, but it does the job. Not sure what version my remote is.
I haven't experienced signal loss either, but it has reboot it self once whilst I have used it.
But for the price compared to other set top boxes, it is really good.Comment

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
Its card sharing options are limited - none of the cccam config software or webbased cccam info php will run as you can not ftp to the box. The menus in the cccam section show very limited information You cant even see the ping in ms. or which server is currently responding to control words.
The EPG show now & next only, navigating the epg changes the channels at the same time and is slow to update the detail.
Every time you make a change ie add a server in cccam or even edit one. You have to power down the box and power up agan. (F###-ing joke when the box is the other side of the room from the couch!).
Remote control is poor, you have to aim directly at the box and press (sometimes more than once, or hold the button down) to make it recognise your request. Layout of the keys isnt friendly either.
As you can probably guess, Im not a fan of this box at the moment.
Only good points. HD + Small size + PriceDislikes the Chinese Openbox Receivers, so much..Comment

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
Never had this problem, I can change clines and it usually changes straight away - occasionally needs to be put to standby and back on with the remote.Comment

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
I downloaded my firmware from openboxforums before i discovered this site. I will update it tomorrow with the latest firmware listed on this forum and see if it continues to happen. Was annoying as it hadn't happened before.Comment
