    Recommend me a DVB Card

I have a DVB card which I think is utter shit at the moment and is probably preventing me from having fun. So I turn and ask the knowledgeable people on here to recommend me a card that maybe they know of or own that won't be a let down to say the least.

Something's telling me he spoke about some Technisat card.

Last week I has a war with SS USB HD and it doesn't work on an acceptable level yet. Both drivers (WDM and most BDA) are written by feet and nobody's planning to make fresh versions.

          What OS are you using?
          What driver version?
          WDM or BDA drivers?
          What DVB player?
Have you tried to suspend your PC, then wake up and have a skystar worked?
When you leave your DVB player does "lock" indicator still lit?
What signal level shows your DVB player?

Maybe you just know something I don't about setting up DVB on TV...
          Then show me how.

Probably the Best card out there is the TBS6925 its fantastic but not cheap £175 but specification wise there is nothing at all to touch this card.

Can you explain why you recommend these cards? What good are these cards? What makes them better than others?
                  I'm just wondering...

Re: Recommend me a DVB Card

I have Skystar HD2 and it works great, but it is very hard to find drivers online.
And it doesnt support blind scan.

                      So I would recomend "TBS5925 DVB-S2"

Re: Recommend me a DVB Card

I have got a SkyStar S2 HD (nowday Technisat doesn't make SkyStar HD2).
Is a very good device. You can order a SS S2 HD so cheap as 50$, shipping included, It has remote control, and you can find USB version or PCI Xpress version too.
HD channels works fine, and is compatible with DISEqC to manage a motor or many more LNBS or Sat dishes.
It is very easy to use, very easy. You have not to charge "images", only install video codecs, for me HDPack 2.4 (freeware) is the best. I use arcsoft codec for HD and CPU comsuption is too low (20% max).
I use Windows XP because is the best for this kind of PCI devices. But It supports Windows 7 too.
I use WDM drivers for XP and it can use BDA Drivers for Win7.
I have tried with both O.S. and for me the best performance is under XP environment.
My PC SAT viewer is DVBDream last version.
                        Best regards.

                          hi findeciclo

I'm not familiar with these cards, but can you use cccam, and is it easy to do so (just enter the cline in a file or so??), and goes to tv with a hdmi cable, right?

Perhaps next year or so could use some for my kids/rooms.

Yes it is very easy to use. Only install device, drivers, codecs, dvbdream and hadu emu.
Hadu emu accepts c-lines and this is all.
                            Regards Pan1100.

                              2 Findeciclo
I haven't tried modern technisat cards except USB (Skystar USB HD)
                              This one has unpleasant issues:
                              XP SP3
                              - in 4.6 wdm there are some glitches - sd mpeg 2 channels - picture freeze for a moment every 10- 15 seconds, nvidia decoder shows bitrate jump up to 10 mBits. HD and SD channels,h264 picture falls to pieces same every 10-15 sec.
                              - in 4.7 bda mode:
. lock continue lit after leaving the dvb app
. when send PC to sleep and than wake up it doesn't wake very often or the card appears with an exclamation mark in device manager and doesn't work until you reboot.
. signal strength indicator shows about 15-20% - just looks weird
-in 4.6 bda mode - all written above.
Normal functioning of this card I saw only in Ubuntu+xbmc+dvbheadend.

So I wanted to ask, are there some of these symptoms with your card, (PCI?) ?
