    XP SP3
    - in 4.6 wdm there are some glitches - sd mpeg 2 channels - picture freeze for a moment every 10- 15 seconds, nvidia decoder shows bitrate jump up to 10 mBits. HD and SD channels,h264 picture falls to pieces same every 10-15 sec.
    - in 4.7 bda mode:
. lock continue lit after leaving the dvb app
. when send PC to sleep and than wake up it doesn't wake very often or the card appears with an exclamation mark in device manager and doesn't work until you reboot.
. signal strength indicator shows about 15-20% - just looks weird
-in 4.6 bda mode - all written above.
Normal functioning of this card I saw only in Ubuntu+xbmc+dvbheadend.

So I wanted to ask, are there some of these symptoms with your card, (PCI?) ?
    My configuration is the follow:
    Video codec: DS Scaler (0.6.0)
    Audio codec: ffdshow (1.7.63)
Video renderer: Video Mixing renderer 7
    Audio renderer: Default video renderer
    H.264 codec: Arcsoft (2.27.319.108)
    AC3 codec: ffdshow (1.7.63)
    HDPack 2.4 (freeware)
    DVBDream 2.1 a
    B2C2 Direct on driver 4.5.1
    Windows XP service pack 3
Card SKYSTAR S2 HD (similar to SKYSTAR HD 2)
Graphics Card: ATI AMD HD 4500 HDMI output.
CPU: Intel pentium D915 2,8 Ghz.
    RAM: 2 Gigas
No freezes, no glitches, except when c-lines doesn't work fine.
Everything works fine. HD execellent quality.
With my old SkyStar HD 2 (crashed imagine by hot) I used BDA Drivers and it worked perfect too.
So I imagine your configurations is not the best or your bandwith is not sufficient.
    Best regards.

If it works fine it doesn't matter for you, but it's strange the audio renderer...
      Were there other options?

I tried only USB card from the modern line of technisat receivers. And all these issues were on it. Same system works perfectly with TeVII S660 and Prof Revolution 7500.
Also Skystar USB HD does NOT work with drivers version less then 4.6 - it just doesn't recognized by them. So I may say - PCI and USB versions of actual Technisat cards are absolutely different.

You can choose your own audio renderer, sometimes I choose AMD ATI HDMI audio renderer, but for me is the same.
For me this configuration is the best, but I imagine it depends of DVB viewer (DVBDream in my case) or PC configuration.

Maybe possible, I can tell you my crashed SkyStar HD 2 worked with BDA drivers instead B2C2 (WDM) drivers. And my new one SkyStar S2 works with B2C2 Direct on driver 4.5.1.
It is possible each device use a different driver and a different configuration.
          Best regards.

He just wanted to tell you that it's kind a weird to use "Default VIDEO renderer" as an audio renderer.
            It's a joke.

OK, this was a mistake herr, I wanted to say "Default audio renderer".
              Thanks.
              Best regards.

OK...but it was not only a joke, I've understood it was a mistake, but I was also interested if for you is the same to leave default device or to select your own.
In my configuration it's better to select my own device.

Dvbviewer doesn't use waveout or KS or ASIO. It can use only DirectSound. If you have only one sound card - it's no matter to pick a card or leave a default setting.
In my case I use 2 outputs from PC. One of them with VGA to plasma TV and analog audio output - to amplifier. Second one is to LED TV via HDMI (with audio). To make this config work correctly I had to specify audio renderer for each output.

So do I. I use DVBDream and when I'm watching football, then I select HDMI audio, because I use a programa to delay radio sound in order to fit with my image, and then I mute graphics card sound but sound of my radio is on.
Usually I use default renderer sound, but I think it is no so important as selecting the best video and audio codecs, to watch and listen OK with a low pc resources comsuption.
                    Best regards.

I think SkyStar HD 2 may be good for you too.

For me SkyStar HD 2 is good but i think one external usb dvb is better because have in ci modul and you can use in more than one computer or laptop.

SkyStar HD 2 can adapt a CI module too.

Re: Recommend me a DVB Card

Again I strongly DON'T recommend to buy Technisat card.
                              At least Skystar USB HD.
Latest drivers for these cards are written in 2010. And these drivers are far from excellence. BDA drivers are completely unusable. WDM drivers are much more stable but they doesn't work with newer versions of windows and some software also does't recognize them, like Dvblink.

                              What I recommend to buy.
Any card with name and BDA drivers.
TBS, Prof, Tevii are good brands. They all make DVB-S2 devices PCI, PCI-E and USB
I prefer USB for I use nettop as a media center.
I tried these USB cards and I assume they all equal quality, features and price. USB version costs about 80 $. Older PCI ~ 40$. PCI-E ~60-70$
The only problem of USB - need of external power.

I agree TBS are surely better, but suds didn't want to spend too much and they are not cheap...
Technisat are quite discussed, but for example they depend on Operating System...we forgot to ask suds about it.
