Re: Recommended wall mount for TD88

I suggest you to stay with the minidish with 28.2E, 19E, 13E and if you want you can add 9E or 7E but you will lose some frequencies because of limited reception.

As about the 26E, an idea is to use the white TD88 but I think that you will not have good signal for MBC channels.
I was receive this satellite some years ago with 1m dish and I remember that the quality of the channels was very bad and also I wasn't able to receive MBC channels.
I don't know even if you can be open with a c-line...
Almost all channels are arabians and remember that I was very disappointed from it.

A good combination for your white TD88 could be the reception of 7W, 4W, 0.8W, 4.8E with center the 4W.

26E and 7W is very similar and have common channels but I don't know if you can receive it in your area.

As @mmoloch a diseqc 1.1 with 8 ports could do very well your job.
Does your receiver supports diseqc 1.1?
Do you have dreambox or other?

Hi try mounting it in the garden with a clear site to the sats, dishes do not need to be mounted on houses.
if you have no kids that can climb on it. you will find it easier to service and set up

We'll I'm going to try the MBC transponder just so I can say I gave it a go though I fear you are probably right.

I'd have to relocate the dish to get 0.8w to 7w, I might do it but probably not as the first job.

I think I have a much better chance at 26e where I live, I think 7w is impossible.

I have three receivers, a clone Dreambox 500, and Openbox S10 and an EyeTV Sat Free for my iMac. I don't think the EyeTV unit supports 1.1, but the other two might??

I'd love to, but there is no way my wife would let me put a big dish in the garden! . I could get away with it at the bottom but then I'd have a 55m cable run!

Dreambox supports diseqc 1.1 , but I don't know about Openbox and EyeTV Sat.

An other solution is to left the minidish as it is and use the other dish to receive 1 satellite each time for some period in order to see with your own eyes what each satellite contains and after that to make the final decision what satellite you want to receive.

I just checked the OpenBox S10 this morning and it supports diseqc 1.1, the EyeTV definitely doesn't it only supports 1.0 shame as I use my iMac for channel hopping and playing around with sat stuff more than my proper receivers. Anyway at least I have two receivers that will work.

I wish the spring would hurry up, it's always dark when I get home from work which makes moving the dish on weekdays a bit tricky!

I have a old receiver that only supports diseqc 1.0 but works well with diseqc 1.1 and my 7 LNBs...

Check your EveTV diseqc 1.0 options, how many diseqc 1.0 options EyeTV have?... A/B?... A/B/C/D?... numbers between 1 and 4? numbers between 1 and 8 or between 1 and 16?

Another solution is to use two diseqcs 1.0 and an manual A/B switch to switch between diseqcs.

EyeTV only allows you to select 4 satellites... see this screenshot _http://imageshack.com/a/img30/3463/njxm.png

This may be a really stupid question (I haven't seen or used a manual switch) I assuming the manual switch would need to be indoors near the receiver so I would need to run two feed cables into the house from two separate 4x1 switches?

That's it, you need two coax cables and two separate 4x1 switches and the manual A/B switch near the receiver...

I've noticed my Openbox supports cascading, I've tried to read up on it but I'm slightly confused. Am I right in saying I can get two 4x1 switches with 8 labs attached and then connect the 4x1s into another switch which in turn is connected to the receiver? If so is the third switch just another 4x1 or does it have to be something special?

The "third" switch will have to be a diseqc 1.1 or diseqc 2.1

All my existing switches are Technomate TM-4S units like _http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technomate-TM-4S-Satellite-DiSEqC-Switch/dp/B00AAAZJZG

I think these are diseqc 2.0?! So is it ok to use these to connect the LNBs to and then buy a 2.1 switch to connect all the TM-4Ss to?

If the receiver supports cascades should be ok using 2.0 or 1.0 switches.

                            What is recommended update procedure?

Do you install the new version over the top of your old version?

Or, do you start with a fresh version and copy existing pages to the new install?
