    ok my friend

With the last photo is more understandable where your dish is located and how clear is the area around it.
It's hard to say if you will have problem or not, because the distance between the neighbours house and your dish is very small.

    You can try a test...

Try to receive some satellites with your dish as it is .

Select satellites which are in the higher point of sight of the house.
    Maybe 1w , 4w , 7w and last 30w
If you have signal is likely to have signal after the new installation with the motor.

Don't forget that the satellite is much higher than you think and it's not in the direction where the dish is pointed.

Ok, I'll give it a go tomorrow as long as the window doesn't blow me off the ladder!

I think it's going to be borderline, when the neighbour had scaffolding up to replace the roof I lost 9E. I guess that added a metre to the roof line and brought it a metre closer to the dish.

I'll see if I can get 30w, I'm not using 9E anymore so it doesn't matter if I stuff it up.

If your that worried about about the over hang of the Dish which there is no doubt it will over hang unless you do an over the roof installation at the back of your house which would solve the neighbour problem.

The other solution is to get a Triax TD110 and do a multi lnb install with the dish as close to the wall as possible, you should on that size of dish get quite a good ARC spread and this wont overhang.

the Torridial T90 will give you an even wider spread as this is made for the Multi-LNB markey

Unfortunately where I live you need planning permission for a TD110, a TD88 is just small enough to not need it. My neighbour already had a little moan thinking I needed planning permission, I think they were hoping I'd get told to take it down.

To be honest I only bought the TD88 so I could get TF1 Suisse HD on 9E to watch Formula 1 two years ago. TF1 don't show F1 anyone more so the dish isn't being used. The idea of putting a motor on it was purely to play around and make use of the dish again. I have no idea what satellites are going to worth looking at, I don't speak foreign languages so my choice is limited!

The TD110 measure roughly around 105cm or there about and as far as i am aware most of UK planning laws allow an antenna of 60cm and 1m on your Home without planning permission.

I only suggested the larger dish as really there is very little west side most popular is the east side also the toridial dish is only 90cm and would give a range of around 40 degrees in ARC so a possible 0.8° west to around 39° east all from one dish tucked neatly against the wall

@digicon you raise a really interesting point at just the right time there!

I've just come in from the freezing cold to thaw out my fingers having spent an hour testing out the dish. The furthest west I managed to successfully find a sat at was 4.8E. I tried 0.8W but couldn't get anything.

I think the roof of the neighbours house is cutting my line of sight just before I get to 0.8W

So... as you say the east side is more interesting that the west, I could perhaps use my motor just for east? If so, is it possible to setup a motor when 0.8W isn't available as your starting point?

Just had an extra thought.... rather than bothering with a motor, is there a particular sat or sats (I have a four lnb fitting for my TD88 I could use) in the east area that would be worth me setting my dish up for? I already have 28.2E and 19.2E well covered with my mini dish setup.

The only things that would really interest me are places to watch F1 with English audio, maybe movies or english speaking channels.

I would probably add 7° east for the Digiturk Pack thats open on keys 9° east as on a larger dish it will pick 10° up as well so 2 sats for the price of on, 4.8° east as there are a few Biss encoded English language channels as well as a few on softcam and lastly probably 23.5° east

                      @pan cheers for the link....

@toby I was just about to say having read the thread that @pan supplied it looks like 26e for MBC is the popular choice.

So, I suppose I could refit my triax multi-lnb holder, I guess have 26e as near to center as possible for best signal, would I then be able to 13e with another LNB. My 13e on my minidish is a little weak so I could replace it.

Just out of interest, I took this photo at midday today, you can see the shadow of the house next door and the chimney. I'm guessing that at midday the sun was due south so it would explain the lack of 0.8W signal. If I had the ladders I'd be tempted to put the dish up high on the left where the sun shines.

If your aiming for 26° east especially the MBC channels then your going to need at least a 1m dish this will then compensate in the beamwidth the channel bleed over from 28.2° east

Hmmm looking at this footprint map _http://www.arabsat.com/pages/BADR4.aspx I'm right on the edge of zone B. Can't justify replacing the dish so I guess I'll just have to give it a try and hope for the best!

In the last photo I saw that you have 2 dishes.
                            What satellites you are receiving?
                            19E, 13E, 9E 28.2E ?

Maybe you don't really need a motorized dish.
Just add 2-3 lnbs in order to receive the most interested satelites.

My zone 2 minidish is receiving 28.2e, 19.2e and 13e with the dish focused on 19.2e (I use this for Sky/Freesat and RTL/ORF on 19.2e for Formula 1, 13e isn't really used and I think is a bit weak).

The white TD88 is/was receiving 9e which I used for TF1 HD again for Formula 1 but is now redundant. Yesterday after playing around with it I left it on 13e in case you looked at the picture and thought it was at the wrong angle for 9e.

My current idea is to leave the minidish on 19.2e with 28.2e... maybe remove the 13e LNB, then fit my multi-lnb holder to the TD88 and setup 26e and 13e and then maye two others if possible. I'm not sure how I handle 6 lnbs with regards to diseqc switches... perhaps I need to put that in a new thread?!

                                You just need a diseqc 1.1 8x1...
