Flashing this OpenSpa 3.1 is not a nice experience, it make box behavior slightly strange , my box start thinking more about any action, so, back to PLI 4.0

@ rizwan the meeting was cancelled so I can come back to you tonight..
First of all install backupsuite from downloads on Openpli, do a full backup.Install OpenSpa 3.1 as flash go in to plugins and enable and install multiboot to either USB or HDD.

After it is installed simply go to plugins Multiboot and install the images of your choice. When you have done the settings on the flash image you can automatically put them on the new multiboot image.
The backup from Open pli if you have problems installing it come back to me.

This new multiboot on OpenSpa I can confirm works well, unlike the old multiboot and I have had OpenSpa. OpenPli, Openatv and vix working without any problems for the past 3 months.

I do beta testing for plugins etc and find it invaluable for tasting various images you simply choose which one you want to boot.

On the downside if you don't like it simply reinstall your full backup of OpenPLI and you are back to where you were but do a larger swap file via telnet.

    Hope this helps,

    nml

    Here is your answer

How many plugins you have installed to your solo2?

I don't use any multiboot because somewhere I read that can cause problems and also I can see the point to do that.

If you want to try a new image the installation can be done very fast
Moreover if you keep a back up, then the whole job can be done easy and quickly.

On the other way, you can use a usb stick for picons and movies.

Personally, I don't use HDD but only a big enough usb stick and I usually move all my recordings once a week to my PC that previously I have created a mount point between my solo2 and a HDD of my PC.

@ rizwan put Openspa on as boot image and enable mulyiboot on usb.

You can multiboot all images apart from BlackHole for example vix, openpli etc and with it being on multiboot you have no worries about filling the memory it is limited only by the size of the usb, an alternative is to create a larger swap file via telnet up to 512 mb.

My favourite image for the past 3 years is Openpli by far the best.

When I installed OprnSpa I had a full backup of OpenPLI 4 and it installed with no problem.
There are very few limitations to the Solo2, so enjoy if you need anymore help just ask.

    ... yessss,

and my concern comes up from that

my venerable dedicated vid pc is commissioned with
1800 Mhz, simple core, 1G ram,

and when transcoding from ts stream to avi archive with

    mencoder , ts(mpeg, with video@3000kb/s, audio@256kb/s) to avi(mpg)(video@1300kb/s, audo@128kb/s)

i see from the linux top command
this process reach about 70% cpu ...

and about 50 % cpu of a single core
with another ibm thinkpad dual core (1800Mhz, 2Gb ram)

... so i really appreciate to known about transcoding with such a vu+
    from comparable resolution
    measured from the top command

    thx

I just remind you a piece of the technical information:

    1300 MHz MIPS processor
    256MB Flash
    1GB DDR3 DRAM
... in other words... it's a little pc

So why a vu box couldn't do it?
