      Re: Astra 2e

Update ILS announced yesterday that the launch of Astra 2e will be the 30th of September.

Also as a result of a court battle between Eutelsat and SES a number of frequencies have changed from eutelsat 28.2 east to Astra 1n 28.2 east including a lot of Sky channels, eventualy it is anticipated that these will move to 2e.
What this means is that previous channels that could not be received in certain areas now can be, but of course all of this could change with the launch of 2e/
In the meantime anyone couldn't receive for example BBC news 24 could you please check and report back.

Can you explain what certain areas are in question here and which channels are involved?
Are those channels from Astra 28A Ku band Northern Europe beam?

@ Triad what is happening is the transponders on eutelsat have now closed and the channels have been moved to 2A or 2f but they may move on to 2E when activated.
The transponder list is, and from early reports coming in on signal strength they appear to be on 2f Pan European beam.

              12.670 V 22000 5/6 DVB-S

@coley65 Yes it did launch successfully on the 29th of September all went well and at the moment it is in transitional orbit. We are expecting the testing position to be at 33.5 east where it should be in a few days from there it will move to 28.2 and to go live at the end of November.
Sorry it is all a bit vague but all we have is reports from fellow enthusiasts who are tracking and testing.

I did post on the day of the launch but it seems to have disappeared.

              Best regards nml

Sorry rizwan nobody knows at this point it depends how long it takes to arrive at the testing position, how long the testing takes probably a 2-3 weeks and then it has to go go to 28,2 east.

The last one 2f took 2months from launch to become active.

                  Hope this helps nml

Just to mention, most of the channels from UK Europe wide beam are down including documentaries as movies too. Probably it's going to move to another satellite as well.

                            Re: Astra 2e

The latest TLE data says that Astra 2e will arrive at 43.5 east the testing location at after 5.20 gmt today, so hopefully testing will start soon. I will update when I know more.

@ Triad all seem to be ok here on the 1.5 mtr but when I tried some movie channels on the small 1mtr motorised dish I now have some movie channels that are on the 2a north beam that I couldn't get before so maybe they have moved to 2f pan European beam.

Can you receive anything on the pan European beam?

The trouble is the only way we can work out in the early stages of switching which beam is by changes of signal strength because the sats do not transmit an identifier such as 2e, 2f etc.

However I will try to find out for you.

                            Regards nml

thankz @nml, but need to address that besides diseq stab rotor problems that I have, until 3 days ago I have had all movie channels (that's SciFi Horror, Comedy, Action, Classic etc)! Now they all dropped out of signal, which I know for sure isn't any rotor issue?
They either changed frequency or maybe are being uploaded for testing on 43.5, which I sincerely doubt. They shouldn't test with active package channels taking it down from official position?

                                Hi Triad

All these channels you said have changed frequency and already moved to Astra 2F.
I also have problem receiving these channels but I'm waiting for the final changes and then I will make some test reception.
