With the announcement by Tesco yesterday of free films, free football, and other sports, for only £2 a month could this be the of Sat as we know it,
Gone will be of the thought of when you turn your box on will they have changed to a new encryption and the chase of trying to find new codes, or will it still just be side by side like it is now.
But at 50p a week including broadband it makes you wonder.

Internet also has its limitations. As everyone will want to watch TV in HD by Internet your ISP quickly bring data limits.

I would doubt it being the end of satellite. For people like me that live in a rural area, streamed TV is a joke to be honest as we are lucky to get 2 meg broadband! Some rural areas have even less speed or no broadband at all!

HD streaming? Haha!

A satellite dish, however, does not discriminate on your location. If you can point it at the right part of the sky, your picture is as good as anyone else's whether you are in a city or tiny hamlet.

Until some astounding video compression comes out, or even better, BT get their backsides in gear upgrading rural areas rather than trying to eek out another couple of meg speed for city dwellers. I don't see the end of satellite.

Factoring in the costs that the owners of those satellites up in space also need to recoup, also suggests satellite still being around.

Having said all that, these streaming TV services may make the market more competitive, which in my opinion is no bad thing.

If our screens go black on sly uk, we just have to move to another satellite.
Stick a motor on your dish and you can get all the movies, sports and tv series you want.
In my opinion satellite will be here for a long time to come.
Broadband has a long way to go for streaming to be a viable repalcement for satellite.

Who knows what the future will bring? Vast sums of money are paid for sports rights and
movie rights the price initially might be cheap but how long will that last all companies have
to make a profit.

No, I don't think it will be a treat for sat ... too different technologies to compare.

Sat encription has been around for a long time and gone through many changes.
I started by playing around with D2-Mac encription in the late 90's.
Its a matter of download speed, encription type, quality etc.
I stll think hings may change in the future.....but not so fast.

if it will be a competitor for the satellite television, then it is for us consumers are well and satellite television providers will be forced to cut prices for its services

Even radio is more and more going on the net, but it's a slow process...and the band needed is less...so I am not so sure about consequences of what you said.

Don't worry, there will be no end in the next years!
Encryption evolution will be followed by new methods of decryption.
That's only a question of a little time.

Sooner or later broadband will have limitations. The world begins with discussion on the subject. Easy access to Internet TV HD cause limits on the data.

It's been advertised in the local media and is on the tesco website.
Only available in the u.k. though.

I do not think we have anything to worry about for a long time yet.
Too many problems with this especially when it comes to HD Broadcast,
and also there will always be people out there who want something else
and need the choice.

There's no reason to worry about the end because one provider announces a change. The digital sat technologie is strong enough for many years!

Sat tv will be around for a long time with HD and maybe super HD just around the corner i think it will just get bigger and better
