Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
I agree with you that it is not cheaper than the DM800 clone.
But you get a lot less problems with the Vu+.
The Vu+ ono is closer in price to the DM800 clone.
For a clone, I would go for a DM800se instead of DM800.
It is faster and has less heating problems.
I am runing one with an internal HDD.Comment

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
buying best cheap box or best box?
firstly when you get involved with this pastime for me it was an old hand down box.
then if you get bite by the bug, for me again it was a digital fta, £75, but found i lost eurosport in english on 19east, english was only availible on analogue box.
to me which box you purchase is deemed by a few factors.
what you want to view an what you can afford.
to put the cat among the pigeons my box is a cheapo an receive most chns, but what more can a more expensive box receive.
depends how much you spend on lines, etcDo not send me iptv/cline requests,

Re: Best cheap HD receiver??
If you need a cheap box (in terms of build / software function and price) then it does the job.
It does have some good features thou, im not going to put down the little box - too much.
Good points
You can record to USB
Can be used to control a motor.
tiny size, great if you wish to hide it behind TV, unit etc.
Handles DVB-S & DVB-S2 well.
Bad points
Terrible menu system
reboots on its own (mainly when you have more than 1 line active).
reboots required to commit changes to CS stuff.
Channel listing / favourites are terrible to navigate - each time you move across the list the channel also changes! (Causing the box to submit ecm's as you effective changed channels).
No way to view ANY info on Cccam information - so you are unable to determine which line is currently providing the correct codes etc. if you have more than 1 line its impossible to tell which one is better. you have to manually activate each one, 1 at a time, to find out. (and as per above, this means reboots).Dislikes the Chinese Openbox Receivers, so much..Comment
