    Can I use any 12v fan in a DM800?

    Can I use any 12v fan in a DM800?

    In particular, can I use a 12v .08A or a 12v 1.5A?

I think the standard fan is 12v 0.6A.

If each red and black wire is 5volts why does it state 12v on the label.

If you use it you will have to increase also the power supply with one having more Amps

Can be used 12v fan connected to 5V. It has less speed has now very quiet, but some may have a problem with turn on.
Is my post useful for you? Please press sigpic

The output on the power supply says 12v 3.0A?
Is it ok once I use less than this. i.e. below 3.0A

No, don't do that, it will burn your powersurge

Must I use 12v 3.0A, the same as the PSU?

If you want to power the cooler separatly then you have to use a powersurge having at least the ampers of the Cooler.

In your case you will have :

              1. Normal PSU of 3.0 A connected to dream

              2. A PSU of minimum 0.8 A if you choose a cooler of 0.8 A.

Are you saying I can use a cooler with ampage above 3.0A with a PSU of 3.0A

I do intend to get a cooler pad

but for now I'd like to watch TV but I have no working fan.

and I'm trying to get my head around an issue that I previously posted.

with which I had to buy a new mainboard

I take it you mean one of the laptop coolers from china on ebay?

Do you think the box would run ok without a fan for 90 minutes(Football this Sunday)?

If you use a 6 cm 12 v fan with an 9V - 12 V 500mA AC/DC Adapter you will be ok. Just put the fan on top of the Dreamboxe either sucking air out or blowing air in (I found the latter way better because it generated less noise).

I saw a lot of answers, and if you put these type of fans you'll have another problem: the psu will increase his temperature and finally will burn out, and if you're unlucky, the recently installed motherboard too. Try a 5V fan or an external psu (for example from an old pc -there you'll find 5V / 12V output)

Just wondering, Can the onboard usb port be used with a usb fan.

That is, if I made a usb fan can I insert it into the usb port on the motherboard underneath where the HDD sits.
