I'm intersted what would happen to games if your console breaks down specially after warranty period, or is the game going to be assigned to Live account
Actually you have this case with steam. With account, proof of payment and email that links you to your account, you can easily switch between any console or computer.
Same thing with Blizzard by the way, with serial and authentification by apps on your phone.
You must play with Internet or your phone today or you won't play at all...

Not sure it will take the rent market.
Xbox live is only here to save games,awards,videos,music... so it will work even it's a game rent.

They would not specify the end of the used game market if what you say was
the only thing that was going to be affected.
The way that I see it is they lock the game to particular games machine, like
they tried to do with windows when any changes to hardware made windows
stop working, therefore you will be unable to give your game to friend to play
with or to sell it on, if that is the case unless they make a special copy for the
rental market or libraries you will be unable to get games from them.

But looking at the bright side if this will reduce piracy, game prices might get cheaper, or is it just wishfull thinking?
There are two big mistakes that MS are going to make. Firstly if they go ahead
with banning the use of used games, how many of us have bought a game
finished the game then sold it to fund the next game or if we can'afford the full
price of a game and waited until came into the second hand market, it would be
like paying for something but never belonging to us for doing what we want
with it.
Secondly having a always on internet connection, what I if don't want to play a
multi player online game and just a quick single player game and the MS servers
are down I will not be able to play.
What MS are doing is not trusting their paying customers the people who pirate
games will always find a way around DRM we already know how easily MS soft
ware is hacked.
My sentiments exactly, there's always a way.
In any case if they charge a reasonable prices for things then it wouldnt be worth pirating. Would It?

When has big business ever reduced prices when they know they can get away
with charging as much as possible the only thing I can see bringing down prices
are the android based console coming soon such as the ouya and playjam.

Even more worryingly soon , we may soon not be able to access the software at as remote gaming becomes more common, then it will be pay to play for a lot of games.

This is very true. We already see that almost every big game releases DLC's that cost almost the same as full game but bring usually very little content.

There're already ideas to move graphics processing into clouds, hence every low end laptop could play advanced graphically games, then companies will be charging per time spent on the game.

If your a must have latest game and consul person this will not worry you a bit but if like most people you swap your games with your m8 and trade them in for another game this is very bad news

Actual gamemakers such as EA have already started making this sort of policy with online passes such as EA online passes which means you get 1 code per game and you need to buy another if another person using your game is to have access to the online facility. It is all a marketing ploy to make money, simply making sure they get the most out of their product. I would not at all be surprised if Sony and Microsoft go fully online in the future to maximise profits.

From rumours so far it seems that it won't, you'd need to buy a new disc.
