Correct, unsecure also (but that's your problem ), but could theoretically overload the server if everyone puts their box standby on scrambled channel with server on. And that's what we try to avoid in everyone's interest here .

So doing that and shutdown you should be ok.
Changing to fta you will still have a valid link to the server but you are not asking for key, so will be no traffic. or.....?

If you check you'll see that in fta channels you're not connecting to server.
Well that's the case with my stb anyway.

hmm that is not in my case. With my receiver i stay connected to the server whether in fta or not. This is the same for the internal cccam client and when i use oscam as client to cccam. But i have always turned to fta channel when i am not using the server.

Changing to FTA stops the traffic from the server to the box but keeps the line busy. Specially if you are on server 4 or 3. It makes the line unavailableto other members even you are not using it.
And the idea is not to keep a line if you dont use it let other member use it!

On my vu+ duo if I'm on an encrypted channel it says in the info bar Cccam 2.2.1 with the cline being used, which to me means you're connecting to the server.
If i cange to fta it no longer says Cccam 2.2.1 in the info bar, just fta.

Re: server located in germany -> secure??

I use most of the time only oscam and not the internal cccam client. When i turn of my recievere(standby) i still can go to the webinf of oscam and see that it still have the connection to the server i have and how many card etc.... So connection to the servers is there but not asking for any key so not much traffic to the server but will make the cline busy maybe......

If i use the internal cccam client its like when iam on a fta channel and go to server setting, i am still connected to server and can see all the caid i recieve. But this is diffrence from box to box, system to system.

That is why I also put my vu+ duo into deep standby as it is then completely shutdown so there wil be no communication at all.

still kind of think no server connection in standby here ; seems really to depend on the box, but perhaps also on router?
