    Vu+solo2 Disecq problem

Hi, grateful for any advice on a problem I have with my Solo2 in that sometimes when I choose a channel on a different satellite then the Disecq switch does not appear to function properly.

As an example, if watching a channel on 28.2, then switching to a channel on 19.2 then I get the tune failed message. Looking at extended information, I see NDS encryption so it looks like it is still receiving from 28.2.

I can't 100% confirm but I think this mostly happens when both tuners are in use.

What I have tried so far is:
    New Disecq switches
Swapping the cables between tuner A & B
Different images I.e. Latest VIX and Blackhole images.

My suspicion is that there is interference between the two coax cables which is preventing the right signal from getting to the switch.

Does that sound likely or is there another possibility that I've missed?

    Thanks

Can you give some more info on your setup. IE. Fixed Dish/Motorized Dish or Fixed/Fixed.
the way the diseqc switch is assigned can possibly be part of the problem

    regards mobley3

      Hi zappahey

As already Mobley3 said, you must give us more info about you installation and the settings that you have made in your receiver in sattellite configuration (diseqc setup).

Also, it would be nice if you give us info about your box (clone or not) and a detailed description of your dishes, lnbs, diseqc, cables etc

        Re: Vu+solo2 Disecq problem

        Thanks for the quick response.

It's a genuine box, dual tuner with standard shotgun cable that was previously installed as part of a standard Sky UK installation.

Currently it's on the latest version of VIX, though I had the same problem on Blackhole.

There are two 4 way Disecq switches with a good space between them and the are 4 dual LNBs pointing at 13, 19.2, 23.5 & 28.2. I don't know the specifics about the LNBS and switches off the top of my head.

What I did last night was changed the tuner setting to only send Disecq on channel change and that appears to have improved things but only time will tell.

I have a similar setup feeding 4 receivers around my home your setup should be:

          Configuration Mode - Simple
          Mode - Diseqc A/B/C/D
          A - 13.2° east
          B - 19.2° east
          C - 23.5° east
          D - 28.2° east

Yes, that's pretty much how mine looks, except I just changed Send Disecq only on satellite change to yes. Thanks

You dont need to change that option to yes

                Re: Vu+solo2 Disecq problem

I get that normally you wouldn't but it seems to have helped.

My theory is that if the Disecq signal is always there then there is crosstalk between the two cables which is preventing the Disecq switches from working properly. I'm assuming that setting this to yes, only sends the switching signal when required.

                Any thoughts on that?

                    Re: Vu+solo2 Disecq problem

Diseqc works on 22KHz tone switching which is set to on automatically so you should not need anything else , just for confirmation i run a Gigablue Quad with 3 sat tuners and 1 cable tuner.

2 sat tuners are on Diseqc 1.0 both receiveing what is in my config 13,19,23,28 east

1 sat tuner is running a Vbox on diseqc 1.2

and the cable tuner is well fixed to cable.

I do not have any of the problems with either of my 2 sat tuners that are on diseqc switches so you either have a faulty diseqc switch or something else, and it is impossible to get Crosstalk between 2 diseqc cables/switches unless you used cheap crap cable, as above mine works 100% and i have 4 cables going into my receiver with even greater possibilities of interference so it cant be that

                      Thanks for keeping with this.

I've changed both switches and my worry is that it is cheap crap cable as it was here before we moved into this house.

Best thing you can do is get rid of the Shotgun cable,it is complete rubbish.Buy some decent(genuine Webro or similar) WF100 or WF 125, if a long run, that way you will be sure that the installation end is working properly, and it is only a matter of settings.
