I would suggest that the "gift patch" refered to would be IKS one.

Wouldn't know about Darkmans involvement, he was promising it on another forum in January but then went quiet, the other forum suggests a gift patch but when you follow the link there is no indication of gift. Thats why I say wait and see.

My 9000 combo is over three years old now and still going strong, the gift was always intended to be for a period of one year and as an introduction to "other methods" of viewing. I had almost three years of the gift which was very good value.
The main point about the Spiderbox range is the simplicity of setting up, now Linux is not that difficult but I know a lot of people that simply give up trying to understand how it works.

Totally agree with you M8, Had mine nearly 3 years now and never had a problem that a re-boot did not fix, As regards who is behind the new box I got the impression from reading elsewhere that Darkman was not involved. It remains to be seen as to the level of support there will be for it. I think a lot of people who might have been interested in it have now moved on to other boxes.

A lot will depend on the "gift" I have a Spiderbox 7000HD and to me theres no way its worth the money I paid for it WITHOUT the gift. Don't get me wrong its a great box but without the gift its just another box closed source as well.

Yes seems 6000hd to have "appeared" on the market after being promised back in January. Couple for sale on fleabay already. Lets wait and see .
To respond to a previous question, I delete unstable clines but only ever use one from same server. I took advice from here and after turning off box and unplugging I don't get freeze ups as such. I also have reliable internet, pay a bit more but it is worth it.

Looks like an interesting box and a good price, maybe slightly limited for some with only 6000 channels, but will there be many people willing to take another chance?

Just had a look myself. Built in wifi, and a very good price. But as you say, will there be any support?
