    hi bokkie

I'm afraid not, I need a gbox or v-box anyway - the echostar isn't at my place ...

      Re: Motor / positioner

Hi just my pennyworth, EchoStar receivers with an IP (Internal positioner ) will drive a 36volt actuator. I found getting the declination (the look down angle of the dish relative to it's mount was easier using a large piece of cardboard cut to 7degrees in my case and similar in Belgium, and using it alongside the dish to polarmount.
      Good luck with your installation.

        dear pan 1100

if you have an old analogue echostar receiver you may want to look at the model cause it is true that some echostar models of good quality at that time had a very good built in positioner for the analogue era of big moblie dishes and the communication with actuator's mechanism

I still have a pace 5500p it is a very good positioner i use it on a silent gold hh90 36 volts motor on a 1 metre triax dish this makes it very quick

            Re: Motor / positioner

You can use an old analogic receiver with integrated positioner to manage dish movement, but it is not so pratical.

I have an old analogic Fracarro receiver with integrated positioner, at the time used to move mi old 1,5mt dish. It can move the dish also today, but it is very hard to point satellites because no more analogic signals are available.

Definitively is possible to use it to move the dish to disidered satellite and then you must power off it and power on digital receiver to view channels...if you want to change satellite you must repeat all steps.

With an usals rotor, when you switching channel automatically the receiver will rotate the dish towards the satellite associated to that channel.

              hi phil76

              thanks, little update:

(not my setup) installed a gbox, works perfectly, so dish>actuator>gbox>stb - only remote control of stb is needed, dish turns automatically after zapping, just need to save each sat (didn't use usals).

my setup is for a bit (lot bit) later ...

Whell if you whant big dish them you dont have a choice, it is eather Vbox or Gbox.

And since everyone say that Gbox is better, then this is a good choice.

I didn't know this useful object. This semplify all operations when you need to move big dishes that cannot be managed by Usals receivers.

Thank you for made me infomed about this!!

                          hi guys

Little update: with some delay I finally could buy a 2nd hand dish (1,6 prime focus - needs some cleaning, new additional support/standard, new lnb) - but in the end we'll get there. So first get it complete, a gbox and then start the set-up. As this is new for me (no signal meter either), I suppose I'll be back in some weeks with a lot of questions ...

                            hi,
cannot really help about positioner. I thought diseq is response for that, may be wrong...

Motor Super Jack 36V 36inches I would recommend for dish 1.8m or bigger.

                            Good luck!

                              thanks Paul

as from what I've read, Diseqc-motors are only up to about 1,2m - didn't even got the time to check the length of the actuator.

Yes you are correct i use a stab Diseqc motor on a 1.2 mtr dish ground mounted and covered from the wind anything bigger than that i would use a Motor Super Jack 36V
