hi I changed my LNB and find that certain frequencies on some satellites variate a lot from full signal to none at all and signal continually fluctuates and yet if I put original lnb back on dish this doesn't happen
Can anyone help or has anyone any ideas?

Does the LNB sit in exactly the same as the old one if not the focus point of the new LNB
might be different a little adjusting might be in order also make sure your connection when
you connect to the new LNB are fitting properly.

Maybe the new lnb is faulty or it is a bad quality lnb. A lot depends on the brand of the lnb.

Try it again with your lnb-change.
If it happens again it sounds like a lnb-failure.
If possible, send it back to change or money back.

You need to spend some time focusing the new Lnb. Move it in as far as you can in the mount and check the Quality, then move it out as far as possible and check again, you may find a position in between is the best, also all tests should be done with the Lnb straight up ie. no offset, what Lnb did you buy and what one were you replacing?. you should also make sure that there are no loose strands of braid which could cause a problem.

A cheap Satfinder meter is more useful but it simply looks at the average strength of all frequencies. It will not tell you if some frequencies are missing. An expensive meter looks at a specific frequency (sometimes more than one) but it will not tell you if some frequencies are missing.

To all those saying bad LNB I like to say it is not always a hardware problem as me and
others have advised the LNB might need adjusting especially if the new one is from a
different maker, up to the OP now to tells us which advice is best.

If it is a Motorized Dish there should not be any need for Skew as it is done by the Motor as it turns.

I normally just centre the lnb up and try small movements each way to get the strongest signal

Probably your new LNB have a signal/noise ratio worst than your old LNB.
Or maybe defective or damaged, if you have bought it go to your dealer and tell him your problem. Inverto lnb's are the best, high quality and not so much expensive.

IMHO this symptom that has been reported has nothing to do with a wrong setup/positioning of the lnb

the problem is not in the lnb because when new lnb come in the market it is better than the old one but I think he has loose his dish setting and he is required more labour and time to spent on thisalso cheek u r connctors of dvb and lnb
