Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
You cannot really measure tuner sensitivity in the home we can only go by the SNR or DB value representation of the actual receiver itself, as an example and has been mentioned the TM5402 has a very sensitive tuner but with all tuners it is still limited by FEC rates on transponders worth a try for any TM5402 owners try and find a weak TP with an FEC of 1/2 the receiver should lock at around 30% snr anything over 1/2 say 3/4 and upwards and the tuner lock rises to around 48%

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
For the average user tuner sensitivity is a measure of the subjective, you need to have to test a lot of different satellite receivers and alternately use them and not all exactly determine the best sensitivity. Perhaps there is a special apparatus to measure the sensitivity of the tunerLeave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Just to support the posts here, the TM5402HD is definitely an incredibly sensitive receiver, you can pick up nearly everything without an optimum setup and it is fast processing box also. Definately worth its money considering it is only £140...Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
It would be Digicon's own experience I guess. According to his post he has used many of them. Where would you put Dr.HD Grand Triple in that list?Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Can you tell the source for this ranking and the test conditions? Own experience?I own all those mentioned plus have had others in the past and the Technomate 5402 beats every other receiver hands down. List as follows for tuner sensitivity.
1. TM5402HD & Dr HD F15
2. VU-Uno ( Only came good in thast few weeks due to FPGA 4.5 Upgrade )
3. Technomate TM500s ( Sharp Tuner )
4. Blade BM7000s
5. SkyBox F3 & M3 ( slightly better due to again Sharp Tuner )
6. DM800se
7. DM500HD
8. VU Duo
9. VU Solo
10. Gigablue 800se
I could add a few others but the list being 1 the best to 10 worstLeave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Sensitivity is fully determined by tuner module, the rest of the receiver has nothing to do with.
So discussion should be about tuner modules.
For instance, I've read in many places that ALPS BSBE2-801A Rev M is much better than Broadcom BCM4505.
What are you experiences about these two tuners ?Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
What is your dish size? If it picks up Hotbird from Pakistan without any difficulties then its a sensitive tuner. Usually people have problems with picking up 13.0e from Pakistan. Tiger HD receivers are not popular in the west, may be not good marketing for them.Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
dear yeslim i m using tiger t600 hd 2 usb for last two years it is well known box in jardon and other countries it picks up all types of channel with a very weak signals i m watching hot bird at 13 degree from pakistan which do not freezes on any channel with a very very weak signals i think it is very good reciver among the cheapdo you have any experience about tuner sensitivity of receivers. best way to test it is on near freezing limit-very weak signals. if you receive a signal with some freezing than attach the same cable to second receiver. if you receive same channel without any freezes than sensitivity of second receiver is better. if it doesnt even lock on signal it is worse.
i am especialy wondering the tuner sensitivity of gigablue 800se-vu solo-vu uno-dm500hd -dm800se or any other linux based receivers.Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
the best here Is dream multimedia tuner - dm800se or dm500hd - I am talking about original productsdo you have any experience about tuner sensitivity of receivers. best way to test it is on near freezing limit-very weak signals. if you receive a signal with some freezing than attach the same cable to second receiver. if you receive same channel without any freezes than sensitivity of second receiver is better. if it doesnt even lock on signal it is worse.

there are threads not here about sensitivity of last Vu boxes - ultimo and uno - having problem In high Ku bandLeave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Tech.no.mate are usually more sensitive than the rest of the lot. I think my Openbox is sensitive enough that it can pick up a few channels on 3.0e with a 80cm dish and a big obstruction in front. Can't complainLeave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Don't think there is a lot in it to be honest. The vu+ uno is slightly more sensitive than the vu+ solo, so I reckon maybe the dm800se or vu+ uno.
technomate 5402 is pretty well known for it's tuner sensitivity.
As far as the best all round receiver out of those listed, I'd go for the vu+ uno.Leave a comment:
