Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Applying the c LNB low coefficient of noise (0.3 dB) and the gain from 50 to 60 dB you can get good quality reception of satellite receiver

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
A bigger dish is not always a viable proposition for some people due to planning restrictions, places to mount the dish and also problems with neighbours complaints, in these instances tuner sensitivity and also a better Lnb can each play their part.

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
The test was just an end user test done on Astra 2d a few years ago and more recently Astra 2a. All boxes connected to an inverto octo lnb is Southern Spain, it was a simple test just for fun in very heavy rain and simply shows the order that the boxes lost signal.
For dish installation I have a Satcatcher mk4 NIT but this doesn't tell me which box will lose signal first in bad weather, fringe reception.

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
Actually the most important thing is the quality of LNB.
As a matter of facts 30 years ago we had enormous dishes because LNBs had high noise.
(I'm talking of first Ku-band satellites...of course C-band had bigger dishes for other reasons
)

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
I would put mine at No.1 its far better than my Solo2 and Uno as regards tuner sensitivity and locking a signal, Guys not everything is about having a bigger dish some channels have variables that are easy enough to locate but some receivers can lock these channels and some cannot.Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
I agree with you totally tuner sensitivity is irrelevant especially when you need
to have expensive equipment to measure it.
From reading threads on this forum about help with weak signals it always come
down to getting a bigger dish.
When considering a new receiver one should focus on other features than
sensitivity eg price, quality of picture, ease of setup etc...Leave a comment:

Where would you put Dr.HD Grand Triple in that list for tuner sensitivity?Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
you should focuss on the dish size rather then the tuner sesitivitydo you have any experience about tuner sensitivity of receivers. best way to test it is on near freezing limit-very weak signals. if you receive a signal with some freezing than attach the same cable to second receiver. if you receive same channel without any freezes than sensitivity of second receiver is better. if it doesnt even lock on signal it is worse.
i am especialy wondering the tuner sensitivity of gigablue 800se-vu solo-vu uno-dm500hd -dm800se or any other linux based receivers.Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
To create such a ranking you need sensitive and expensive equipment. Most lists are very subjectively.
In common you can say that the newer tuners are more sensitive than the older ones used in older dvb-s receivers.
I use e.g. a dvb-s2 receiver and the good old dbox2 on one dish and the new one is (subjectively) much better.
One testing-criterion may be that the one receiver has dropouts and the other has a perfect picture stream on the same cable (same signal).Leave a comment:

VU duo is very good box but still the solo2 better sensitivity....Leave a comment:

How did you compile this list ? I mean, tests, reports etc.Leave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
a couple of old receivers here but here we are, the best 1st.
1 Relook400s sd
2 Foxsat hdr
3 VU duo
4 TM 6900 std
5 TM 9100
6 DM 7020
The Relook is the best by far in Southern Spain unfortunately the don't make them any more.

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
keep it to the topic please, this is not the thread to start discussing in detail specific receivers (differences, software details, etc), this is general topic about sensitivity of receivers. Thank youLeave a comment:

Re: tuner sensitivity of satellite receivers.
I think that with stable weather conditions we can at least compare sensitivity of two receivers just swapping them on the same dish cable and checking SNR + BER of a transponder that is at the limit of a good reception.
Quite empiric method but really effective.Leave a comment:
