if you are an immigrant you are also allowed a bigger dish to receive tv from your home country.

Where did you get that fact from? Planning permission is based on a property not the nationality of the person who lives in it.

Can you suggest any place other that ebay i could try get a cheap type of dish the bigger the better, really looking to get a biggest cheap dish i can ie if 1m dish is £50 and 1.2m is £55 and 1.5 is £10 i will go with 1.2m

as far as i know the limit is 1m on the house but ground mounted there no planning required unless going to be over 6ft and then you need it just like anything you build over 6ft

Having done a bit of research the rules in Scotland differ to England, English rules are very clear cut, Scotland leaves it to your local authority so you have to check with the local council.

I would avoid going for a cheap dish, get a decent quality one, especially when getting a large one. A Triax TD88 will cost about £55, a TD110 will cost about £80. Any bigger and you are looking at £100+

I was told by an installer on another forum that they make special dispensation for people from other countries.
He actually quoted text from a local council website stating that, and have actually seen it mentioned several times by different people.
I'm not trying to stir up anything here. Just quoting what I have been told by installers.

It doesn't surprise me, politcal correctness gone mad, the council are probably scared they will get sued for discrimination if they stop a non national from putting up a big dish. I'll have to go down the council office & pretend to be Polish then I can get a monster dish put in the garden!

By the way I don't mean anything negative against non nationals, I just think our country has gone to pot these days.

its true, bigger dishes are allowed for foreign nationals, so they can view there native chns, i have read this myself.

If you want to fta Irish programs you are out of luck you can not from the u.k, don't invest in a ka band lnb.
