However if you go to the blade website there is a format utility tool for the hdd.
Have to connect the hdd to your pc and follow the steps to format it.
i advise to use a memory stick instead of an external hard drive

I disagree. A memory stick will fill up quickly. A hard drive is the better solution for long term satisfaction.

Hard disk are better but some people just like to use the usb and then transfer the files else were easily. the usb are very cheap now even big ones of 64gb.

I disagree with you my friend

A usb stick of 64gb costs about 50 Euro.

With 50 Euro you can easily find a portable usb HDD of 500gb.

The difference in storage capacity is huge.
The convenience of use is similar

The only difference between a USB stick and a hard drive is the speed of data transfer. Most hard drives should be faster than a USB stick. Whether it makes a difference to what you need it to do is unlikely, but that is the only difference.

                      Dear @kostis

You are right about the offers.
If you search in e-bay you can find also offers for HDD in very low price.
But comparing a usb stick vs HDD we forgot something very very important,
as @odysseas1991 said, the speed of data transfer.

thats why i said that hard disk are better but still for some people usb stick are a cheap easy to store and move solution.

ofcourse receivers are more compatible with harddisk despite flash speed is more than harddrive but they dont have enough space for record. according my experience i had more problem with usb flash than hard disk

                              hi guys

I definitely prefer a hdd above an usb stick - but can depend on the box itself, and on the brand (and even sometimes type) of hdd and usb. I know about some boxes where some hdd's work and some don't (more than 500 GB), but on the same boxes must usb's don't work and only few do (has do do with the data transfer speed, as @odysseas1991 said).

So: bit trial and error I say - I'm still looking myself for an acceptable working hdd ...

                                Hi,

The problem is not to compare a HDD and an usb stick.

you don't need a gun to kill an insect .
for one hour recording you need an usb stick(4gb => 5 EUR). it is practical and easy to deal with.
