Did you try acoustic dampening for the dish as I posted above? It's not something I've tried myself, just seen it recommended elsewhere.

Any installers tried this trick? Does it work?

I just wonder if the nylon gears would fail after sometime in comparison to the metal gears? Metal gears sound like they would be heavy duty??

my first stab motor lasted 7 years on a channel master dish with no problems with the nylon gears

which stab motor did you have??? this one is from 2007 and has all metal gears, regards mdt

I will have a look in the shed and see if i still got the old motor to check

it a gbsat stab hh120 and i stand corrected all metal gears i have never taken it apart before its the same as you photo

Anyone know how to take out the circuit board on this motor, seems to be fixed in with the F connector sockets, I burned out the circuit board I think. the gearing should be ok. It's the HH 100 version of the Stab. Don't know if there is anyone repairing them so would just like to have a look.

I think if you look at the bottom of the casing there is a small lock nut holding the f connectors in just undo them and it should just pull out i will look at the one i got to confirm

just to confirm it came out very easy i used a small flatheaded screwdriver to get to the edges of the nuts and span it round ps thats what went wrong with my stab hope this helps you

Thanks M8, I don't want to do any more damage than may already be done but if the board is destroyed then I think it's game over and a raid on the piggy bank

You can only get the Small printed circuit board from STAB in italy, Ask mdt he has been waiting on one for his for months it may be cheaper to get a new HH100 have a look at Hisat as they are the official importers for STAB in the UK

if you can afford it try to buy yourself another stab like i have said before they are a great motor that should last you for years with a 3 year warranty

I don't think I can wait that long, I am already missing having the selection of sats I had. I think I will probably go for a HH 120 as I would like to go for a Triax TD 110 when funds are available. I got the extension piece for the HH 100 from Hisat some years ago as my old dish would not fit on the standard shaft.

Hopefully pcb is only dryjointed due to water ingress .

No, I wish that was the case. As I posted in another thread I was nudging the dish and got a bit over exuberant, not only did the motor stop working it also took out a port on my Diseqc switch, must have been some current surge.A lesson for all.

Just be aware that the STAB HH120 is marginally slower than the 100 but both are great motors, The Rolls Royce of Diseqc imho.

the stab hh120 is a little slower than the 100 but it works fine on my channel master and i find it makes it easier to find weak signals rather than going straight passed

I did not know that, I don' think it would be wise to put a TD 110 onto a HH100 especially as the only one that seems to be available in Dublin is the Steel dish which I imagine is a lot heavier than the Aluminium one. I would be grateful for your advise.
