The fact is that nylon gears are much quieter than steel gears, so a dish with these would be quieter.

I use the dark motor i would recommend it to anyone ,its quiet and accurate to one tenth of a degree ,much better than my old one.

I got a Dark Motor in the end and it is pretty quiet.
But as it's attached to my neighbors wall I am still a bit concerned that they can hear it.
I try not to change sats late at night.

There was a tip in one of the dish conversations (I'm sorry, I've read soooo many recently):

basically saying the dish can resonate and make the sound from the motor louder. If that's the case then some acoustic dampening on the back of the dish might help (it doesn't affect s/n!)
I'm guessing a couple of strips of some weatherproof material like 'tar' backed flashing would do the trick?

I dont know which one is qietest . but I can give a simple tip. If you want your motor to be quiet always prefer V polarisation when rotating it to another satellite. V polarisation sends motor lower voltage compared to H polarisation. this makes motor rotate slower but much more quieter.

Good Choice probably the Best Diseqc H-H motor available on the market today and has a far superior build quality compared to the Dark Motor and the Technomate clones

the only down side to stab is the price but if you want quality you got to pay for it i would not use anything else

Dont blame you its almost double the price of every other motor but as i say the build quality is far superior and puts the other cheap Chinese clones to shame, and its the only Motor with a 3 year Guarantee as well

I just wonder if the nylon gears would fail after sometime in comparison to the metal gears? Metal gears sound like they would be heavy duty??

No mate my term was used as in they are Motek clones from the Motek 2100 which is Plastic geared so TM2300 and then they introduced an all metal gear TM2600, Its the same with the Dark Motor that is a clone or rebadged version of a Clarke-Tech 380.

There is probably only the Stab 100 and 120 that are not copied or rebadged apart from one company in the UK GBSat

Do you mean it's your wall but near your neighbours or is it actually your neighbours wall??
