    Re: Quietest dish motor?

Is it noisy enough to wake a light sleeper up with the motor on the outside wall of the bedroom? I know it's a bit of a daft question but I have never heard a dish motor before.

      Re: Quietest dish motor?

this is the spec for my present dish, but couple years old now.

Technomate DISEqC 1.2 H-H Motor TM-2300 Super. Very easy to set up and is an ideal replacement for you current systems motor. Everything is controlled via only one coaxial cable.
This high efficiency designed motor is specially designed for receivers with a diseqc 1.2. The motor has an ultra low noise and a compact structure. It has a reinforced vetilated metal plate, adustable hardware limits and everything is controlled via only one coaxial cable. The motor contains a zero drive mechanism, strong zinc alloy gearbox inside and a zero drive play mechanism making this motor highly recommended for users with a dish up to a 1.2M dish with a 2 inch pole mount.

      200mA (Normal)

      350mA (Maximum)

      Rotation Speed

1.9° per second at 13V; 2.5° per second at 18V

      Satellite Positions

as said dish in my manual comes factory preset hardware limits from 70east/70west, not my words (manual) as an arc from 45e/ 30west, mine=45e/30w=75degree arc, plenty.
most motors simalar, dont have to be cleaver to fit one.

      as in spec= 75e-75w (150degree) adjustable.

        Re: Quietest dish motor?

From where I'll be putting my dish I'm hopeful to be able to recieve 75e-75w. I should do as I have a pretty clear line of sight.
Only getting an 80 or 90 cm dish though so will be limited by that

Not really as concerned with speed as I am with quietness. Thx though abijun.
Will have a look at it.

As i said previously the quietest motor is definitely the darkmotor without a shadow of a doubt.

actuators are definitely quietest than HH motors...

                personally tested.

Sorry, excuse my ignorance. But what's the difference between the 2?

                    Re: Quietest dish motor?

actuator is a piston motor used to pull and push the dish on the polarmount adaptor instead of rotating it..

it's suggested for dishes from 1,20m to 5.. and it's more precise and strongest than the hh type.. especially in windy areas

I'm only getting an 80 -90 cm dish. Is that ok with an actuator?

the dish is too small for it..

remember.. to use an acuator.. u need the polarmount adaptor..

                            Re: Quietest dish motor?

I'm using for the past five years this rotor without any problem with a 90 cm dish. The only criticism that I can do is a slight slow for the rest nothing to say. Rotor SAT HH120 is an engine that allows the orientation of any one satellite antenna towards all visible satellites in the polar orbit.
The characteristics that make Rotor SAT HH particularly valid are:
                            - Maximum precision
                            - Mechanical robustness
-Connection without external feeding, only by coaxial cable
                            -Compact size
                            -Easy installation
Rotor SAT HH is directly controlled by DiSEqC 1.2 or USALS receivers with compatible protocol. The rotation of the motor automatically begins when selecting the desired channel.

I have read somewhere about a new motor called New Horizon H-H 210 Diseqc1.2 also supports USALS. The reviews are good and they say its not noisy. It covers 75.0e to 75.0W which seems good to me. I personally havent tried it.
