Rather like Toby69, I started with an analogue receiver (from Lidl), graduated to a Technomate 5000, then to a Technomate 1500. My present setup is a Spiderbox 9000 and a Humax Foxsat HDR. This arrangement suits me fine and I have no aspiration to anything else - at present!

Started a long time ago with a pic card on a drake dsr 250 then then various boxes, Then went hauppauge sat card, sky star card running prog dvb,the technomate 1500 ci then technomate 5400 ci, spiderbox 9000, but the sad thing is I still have them all including pic programers, and also still use the drake for moving the dish 1.5m

Re: Tell us about your sat receiver and send us a photography

I started with a Starview box for cable TV before I got into satellite.

Then I bought an old $ky box and caught the satellite bug. Got a few different FTA receivers, installed dishes for myself and friends, checking out what was available free from other countries.

After more research I wanted to see what the subscription channels had to offer, so I bought a Spiderbox SD and soon realized it's limitations so upgraded to the 9000HD.

Like Toby I have been doing lots of reading to bring my knowledge up to speed so I can help others.

think you wasted your dosh on a standard deff box, but never mind as you quoted stevensmith put it down to experience. still a good box thou. we all live an learn. i was ripped off for £120 for flat screen tv once, nicked an did not work.

                        here are my babes

the first receiver was a next receiver but i dont remember the name. after the next receiver i bought the best receiver of all time:

                        humax 5400

then after years i decided to buy an hd box with linux base. my choice was

                        kathrein ufs 910

then after years of watching tv via sat i wanted to test a dreambox. my choice was this

                        dreambox 800se

right now i am using all three of them but my all time favourite is the humax 5400
=> the one and only <=

Just out of curiosity, can the pci card work the same way as a receiver? I mean, I'm saving up for another receiver but if going to get a pci card instead, will I be able to key in cccam just like with receivers? Pls pardon my ignorance...thanks

My first was an FTA receiver from Media Markt (I don't remember the name...), but soon - within a week - I sent it back and bought my beloved Humax 5400. It was my first introduction to .bin files and firmware flashings.
Now i am a proud owner of a Dreambox 7025 and a Dreambox 800, both genuine. They are interconnected through a Powerline pair in the house and run separate servers.
I will soon change the 7025 for another 800, due to the HD channels.

sure you can use for cccam protocol plugin called Hadu, for newcamd, cccam, camd35, radegast, gbox can use Acamd, for softcam keys Vplug.
There is quite more of these plugins like WinCSC, csc...
but i'm using first three stated and I'm really satisfied with them.
