It should tell you on the box what the motor is capable of moving, and that size should include wind gusts that put extra pressure on the dish. all these can be checked if you know the name of the motor,by ****** for the manufacturers spec

Re: Who is the better dish motor?

      Hi,
I have a 1.2 mtre dish driven by a jaeger 1224 motor, never had any problems, but have to use a Vbox to drive it. Don't think the jaeger is made any more, but is an excellent motor.

I have done a few Drak motors and hate them not because they are bad or anything but due to the fact that its a bitch trying to screw the 'F's in where they are located. I use the Technomates on all installs now due to having nice easy to see and connect F's

I have a TM 2200 running my Orbital 1m Alum dish. Spiderbox doesn't like it. It drifts slightly east every so often, so I use it on DiSEqC and have to keep tweeking it. I'm thinking about getting the new Darkmotor. The LED one.

Depending on how many satellites you want to receive, I find that if you only have 4 favorite sats. you can do it all on a fixed dish using 4 lnbs and a disqc switch,(I've got 13,19,1 deg. on one dish and 28deg. on a mini dish) the beauty of this is instant channel switching even on different satellites.

PS I do still have an old 1.2m channel master with a 36v jack incase i want to look for other satellites, but hardly ever use it.

Like Dad46, I have two dishes. The larger is for 1, 13 and 19 and the second is for 28.5. I have instant switching but setting up in the first place was not easy and I am still not getting the best quality from 1W. I read this thread with interest as I am tempted to go for motorised!

go for it nev, you wont look back, ok a bit of cost an time setting up be well worth it, i had 4 dishes at one time, its such a lot of messing about, only benefit=instant switching between sats. how much time missus an me messing round with mirrors in room for reflection from tv, or portables in garden.

On my opinion Stab is the best one I use one for over 10 years now and have never experienced any problems.
