In the good old days of analogue I used an Echostar LT 8700.
Great receiver with great picture quality, cost a fortune by to-days standards.
Now I think it would have to be my Spiderbox 9000, easy to use, reliable and great picture quality, something you do not get from the cheap receivers.

From all the receivers I had (echostar, q-box, dreambox, vu+ duo) the vu+ duo is the most loved box. Great image, good support, stable, fast, user friendly, more and more images to work with.

back in the d2 mac days my phlilips d 2 mac then my first echostar Dsb 2110 2 ci viaccess lots of technomates but the best has to be the spiderbox hd9000

in ninetees i was using winersat analouge reciver do not remember the exact model but it was great with good picture quality in the early age it was the reciver with automatic sacning channels and saving them and manually scaning of channels were also i can not forget th reciever

The most popular box of all time was easily the iconic Humax 5400z ,people still use them to this day but whats best now.

For me the best is the spiderbox 9000HD due to its straight forward easy to use functions and good HD quality its not the best box you can buy for money but suites my needs perfectly.

the best box i had from the analogue days was a pace mss 508ip with phillips bde d2mac decoder, luxcrypt decoder and ebu decoder. running pic chip cards for the tv1000 channels/filmnet ect with a tv2nor official card i was in heaven. the best value for money box today was the protek 9600ip and the later hd models they wipe the floor with the amount of packages/support available for a 1 off fee. i too am now only using linux boxs like most other enthusiasts although i really liked the echolink boxs about 5 years ago for tps multrivision and taquilla ppv(the good old days), regards mdt

Can you tell why you prefer linux above the protek right now? I have a client linux and a protek, and must say the protek is still my main receiver. Or am I missing somethings here? PM is ok if you prefer this.

Started with analogue and finished with HD and the best is yet to come. Always getting better with time. One box is the most loved one but after 2 years people forget about it and move on to something different. Vu+ and Dreams could be the most loved and desireable ones at present but lets see what the future brings?

i like the linux boxs as i spend most of my time messing about than actually watching tv. the protek boxs give fantastic choice for cash outlay and are run by a excellent team and need very little upkeep. if i wanted to just watch tv then they would still be my choice,regards mdt

For a newbie, it would be just watching telly but with time you learn and want to try something new. If everyone remembers when they got the first ever channel on their satellite dish, they will never forget those feeling and excitement. When I opened sly sports with my brand new openbox with a c line I was over the moon and it suddenly became my favourite box. Those were my early days on Satlover. But now I am confident enough to move to something more challenging and exciting. It would not have been possible without Satlover. I have learned a lot on satlover in a short time.

when in my early days in the world of satellite tv i was using winnersat analauge reciver and now a days using tiger t600 hd linux reciver with a cline i feel the difference and thinking that the technology is get very very advenced..and the linux reciever bring revolution to the world of satellite particularly the dream boxes and vu

i'm a complete newbie, used to analogue signal and so on... my first experience was (and still is) a inetbox 500HD... i can't believe that a so small package, combined with a good hd tv and a NAS, can be so awesome!

Dreambox 500 for me .
Very user friendly ,very stable also.
It allowed many many changes and compilation solutions .
Linux is one the best idea Dreambox had on all the receivers they made.
