For me, an special sat cable, as short as possible, a low noise rate lnb, a fine pointing dish to the sat, no cuts at the cable from dish to receiver, good f connectors, and a great diameter dish as possible are the most important things to get a very good signal reception.
There are some signal amplificators, but many people says that those devices doesn't work fine.
So I think the best to get a good ratio signal-noise is to get a good lnb, a good sat cable as short as possible and a large diameter dish.

What you have said is ok and good...but I have found out from experience that the most important aspect of a complete Dish setup is to have the Pole perfectly Plumb i.e. absolutely straight and that the Motor is properly set to the (in Latitude and Longitude) the person Site. I have come up to many people having a very good Hardware but the alignement of the setup was not good enough.
