    Motor problems

Can anyone tell as to whether there should be any play between the metal bar that goes into the motor I think I have a technomate 2660 motor with a 90 cm dish. The dealer who fitted it has gone bust !

I presume you are referring to the motor spigot, There will usually be some play in all motors although some more than others, gear trains wear out both metal and plastic. unless it is excessive I would not worry, how old is the motor ? does it go to the selected sat ok or do you have to peak it ? does it loose the signal in windy conditions ?

      Re: Motor problems

The motor is about 3 years old and rather exposed, having problems to get it to move east for some reason, deleted limits and done factory reset but will not move beyond a certain point in the sky.

Can't you manually change the arm distance to get a bigger reach? Or turn the complete installation? If you can't turn east: is the cable properly connected and still ok?

Have you tried to re-set the motor ? I think there should be re-set buttons or small hole in the motor casing to do this.

Got on the roof and had a look at it but I think the problem is either the software in the receiver or the motor not responding. The silly thing will move west. May have to phone someone ?

Is there anyone you can borrow another receiver from to check it out ? It does not need to be the same make, just enter your co-ordinates and check. Did you look to see if there was any re-set buttons ?

              Regards Mobley3

                Is this a recent problem?
If your connections to the motor are ok and the set up of motor and dish is correct then check that nothing else is blocking the movement of dish or motor, in the end it just might be a mechanical problem and might have to replace motor.

If a reset did not work from the menu on your sat box menu Check the coax and F connectors. are ok. and reset the motor by moving it to centre if possible and then with a straightened paperclip push the button inside the pinhole next to the motor buttons.

Tried the cables and they seem ok, this only happened this week. I do have another receiver which might be worth a try to eliminate other areas and workout what is going wrong

                      hi,

sounds like the dish is to heavy. At the mentioned point the rotor has not enough force. To confirm his, support the dish while moving to the point or try it without dish.
                      Please push thanks.

                          Re: Motor problems

The motor is difficult to get to, will try to find my other receiver to see if it will move the dish. The dish has been working for about 3 years with no problems.

Just had a friend come round he thinks a cog in the motor has broken, best to have a new motor. Tried it with another receiver but the same thing happened. Thanks for help guys looks like I will need to invest in new motor more money

try to clean it, perhaps st blocks it.

We managed to move the dish with the buttons on the mount but cannot get the motor, and it will still not move east.
