    26e on 80cm motorised?

Hi all. So I'm getting a bit jealous of the people that go on about the free movies on 26e. Top movies, Mbc, etc.
My question is, should I be able to receive these on my iss 80cm dish?
I know the iss 80 is actually more like a 70cm but I've read of people in the north east receiving these on an 80cm.
Do you reckon if I tweak it I might get a sniff?
I'm in the south east near guildford with a vu+ duo running vix 2.4.
    thanks for any advice.

I only need about 35% snr on my stb to be able to watch. I know it won't give me much of a rain fade margin but I'd be happy getting anything at all.

        Re: 26e on 80cm motorised?

If your in the east midlands and cannot receive them on a 1.2 then your ARC is out with a dish that size you should have Zero problems with the MBC's on 11919H.

Your 80cm may be a little on the small side although i have had them on a TD78 with a TM5402HD and a Black Ultra, With the latter 2 helping the most the Ultra because of its reputation for fringe and the 5402 because of its highly sensitive tuners. But bear in mind the TD78 would only pull in around 53% snr on the receiver and so in heavy rain the signal would break up.

Bokkie its all about the other components in the system and the Duo is known to have pretty poor tuners for fringe and weak reception, do you have a Black Ultra on the 80cm

Yes I have a twin black ultra.
problem is the iss isn't really an 80 and it's perforated, so am I being optimistic or should I get a sniff in good weather?
Don't really want to get a bigger dish if I can avoid it.

yes digicon, no probs here, correct aliglinment always needed, i found also, might be a tip for bokkie, when searching i nudge 28east as far to the east as possible but still with good signal and save position in box as these two birds can easily confict with each other being so close, one weak signal to one very powerful.
these chns have always been a good back up in the past as there was not much available in them days, me an her indoors have spent many an hour watching these film chns on a sly dish, but directly over the beam in cyprus, (other home) also 7west.

              Bokkie,

Try a few of the TP's on the BSS beam on 26° east they are slightly easier to pick up, as the footprint for where you are says a 90cm but this is just a guide.

              Toby69

you should still be pulling in more than 50% quality on a 1.2m dish it should be nearer the 85% mark again dependant on receiver and LNB and of course the dish

                Re: 26e on 80cm motorised?

I'll try some of the stronger transponders tonight.
It is strange though because when I first had the dish installed I tried tring and was only getting about 30% with the picture breaking up.
Tried again about a month ago and was getting about 50% with same weather conditions, same time of day, etc.
only thing changed was the image. Why the sudden improvement?

I tried Saudi Sport and Al Hurra on 26e but had no luck.
Snr was just bouncing up and down between about 4 and 17%.
                    Should I be getting better?

I still think I should be getting more with what I've got. maybe I should try tweak it first?

Hi bokkie, is your dish motorised or are you moving it manually? I'm very interested to know how you get on, I'm just outside Guildford myself and am tempted to try my TD88 with 26e.

My dish is motorised mate. I've always had my suspicions that it's not spot on.
I know my dish is small for 26e but I reckon I should be getting something.
You should get it on a td88. Let us know if you try.

Out of interest, what signal strength/quality do you get for the TF1 Suisse transponder on 9E? It's on 12034/V/27500. I use the for watching F1 races and find its the hardest channel to get a good signal on, be an interesting comparison to know what your motorised 80cm in the same part of the country gives you.

I want to try 26E but I'm not motorised so will have to wait for some decent weather to get up the ladder!
