May be I did not put it correctly.
It is well known that CCcam has a security issue and a backdoor is there for someone who knows how to use it.

The server owner has a port open on your system.
He knows you IP and all the channels you are watching.
Since your Dreambox is connected to your network.
If your network (connected to your computer) is not protected (mant are unfortunately not).
A person can roam around your system.

Please feel free to make any constructive comments.

i am not to high tec on computers, but if as servers know your ip address, what risks are they to gaining any access to wifi laptop with security installed to protect computer, your answers welcomed.

it is possible for them to see your files. be it in the shared folders or elsewhere. but u can also see who's looking at your files.

they are legal to be used as u can use them to watch fta channels. it is when someone installs the necessary files and codes that makes the difference.

hi bm300, what i meant is as they know your ip address, is it possible to gain access to computer information.

if u are only using a spiderbox like us with no pc attached then no but if u are using a linux box where the pc is attached, then, possible.

                          That is correct.

                          To avoid this,
Enable fire wall on your router.
Change Dreambox password so that no one can tamper with your files or download your movies while you are asleep.
Disable FTP or Samba in your box (enable only when you want to edit anything).

Make sure that your PC has no shared files.
Enable Any security alert that you have on your PC so that it will warn you.

My point of view is like this : Does your spiderbox have internet connection ? If yes - it takes IP - from where - from your modem . Does your computer have internet connection ? If yes - it takes IP - from where - form your modem So access to your modem via your box means access to all your home network. If my logic is wrong everyone can correct me.

                              You have a point sucan.
Since IPs/MAC addresses are the addresses of our locations and whatever instruments we use including computers, all safeguards must be in place to stop any intruders.

During my last visit to London, I played around with an IP scanner program to see if anyone in the building where I was staying had a Dreambox.
Guess what I found 2 and could go into the files of one of them.
                              It had password = dreambox.
                              .

Connection to internet always means "open door". So everyone with good "know how" ( like you ) can enters through this door. İsn't it BM300
