    Re: Risks of cardsharing

So you can open up an anonymous account? But how do you pay the money to webmoney, don't you use a credit card?

Make a webmoney account for John Smith, or better Smythe , buy a scratchcard - voila you paid and no one will catch you.

By the way - is it really a crime - to use cardsharing in the west?
      Maybe to sell cardsharing services...
      But to own a receiver?
I heard in Belorussia they sell linux based receivers with mgcams set up for cs and doesn't worry.
They say Lukashenko doesn't like NTV PLUS - they said something unpleasant about him , so authorities look through the fingers on cardsharing in Belorussia.
Many time you can be traced, ok you cant trace the payment but the ip and the data traffic from your ip can be logged. But yes, it's true in west europe the last problem is the cardsharing i suppose

        Re: Risks of cardsharing

I think you're right, they probably wouldn't go after the clients, just the servers. But if I can do something to make it as safe as possible for me and reduce the risk, I'm going to do it.

obviously if you can evade, but the old bill will always go after the pushers more likely than the the users, i wouldent worry about it at all.

            Re: Risks of cardsharing

Like I said, just take as much precaution as possible. If I'm only going to use the cs for an hour a day, I'll only have it connected for an hour a day.
Use servers out of your home country. And like was said in a previous post, If you're sharing sly, don't use them as a broadband provider!

              The receivers themselves aren't illegal.

No it's not illegal to own a receiver, just to cs.

Better not to advertise that u are user. It is thru the clients that they get to the server.

                    Re: Risks of cardsharing

My view is that at the moment, cs is still relatively unknown to the majority of people.
With that in mind sly don't want to make a big deal about it and arrest every tom, dick and harry, thereby giving cs more press and making it more widely known.
This would lead to more people trying it out instead of paying subs to sly and they'd lose subscribers, with a huge war on their hands.
                    Well thats my view anyway.

How do you know the country of origin of the server?

Good question. Guess we'd have to ask the server.

You can find it from IP of the server or from its domain name. There are a lot of "who is" web sites which will give you this information. For example :
                          _http://www.ip-adress.com/whois/

                            Re: Risks of cardsharing

Then there are also programs that hide your IP or allot you the IP of your choice in another country.
I think the cost to fight this has becom to high for the providers, that is why they are going back to selling receivers which either marries the card or have built in CAID and no other ports.

i would not worry to much, the best way probably is when you finnish viewing which for most people a few hours a day, i always switch off box an router compleatly.
i have not read any where saying client use illegal, if anyone has please inform?
