There are people that don't know about new techonogy and don't really care if the tv is led, oled or plasma.

They look only at the price, and believe me I have already seen some very good prices for plasma tvs at the stores.

        For examble,
in my country, I can find an LG 60PB5600 which is a 60” FullHD 1080p plasma TV at 760€

        It's a temptation

If I was you I would look at the power comsumption of the set if it is 250watt you will use a kilowatt every 4 hours that means on average over the week you could use 28 kilowatt then instead of warming the room when viewing you will be burning your wallet as well.
a sixty inch may even use more than that.

Most TV's use about 80 to 400 watts, depending on the size and technology. Using a sample cost of 15¢ per kilowatt-hour and five hours of viewing a day, that's $1.83 to $9.13/mo. ($22 to $110 per year). Below you'll find energy usage information for different models.
Before you obsess over how much electricity your TV is using, I want you to obsess over how much your heating, cooling, and lighting is using. TV energy use is a drop on the bucket for most people. TV's typically account for only 5% of home electrical use.

for me one of the most important factors when buying a tv is power consumption

I think the average person will look at the price first size of tv then power consumption

                    Yes...
Power consumption is a major factor but I think that when you are going to buy a new tv you are looking at other things...

size, price, smart tv, 3D, wifi, ability of playing multimedia files (videos) and finally the power consumption.

If the power consumption is the first you are looking at, then is better to buy a small tv of 22'' led and forget the magic of a home cinema.

For most people I think the buying motto is, the cheaper and the bigger it is the more they are likely to buy it, I do not believe the general public even think about how much it costs to run, lots of people leave them on all the time.
