    End of plasma-tv

    A news from a german information-forum:

They call it: Plasma is dead!

After Panasonic has stopped it's production of this tvs, samsung will also stop the production of this technology at the end of this year.

Another proof that the tv-technology business has a short lifetime...

I have a Hitachi and a Panasonic plasma tv and the picture quality is great the only down side is that that it does use a lot of power compared to other tv

Curved screen ultra HD oled tv's are the way forward. Saw a 65inch in my local costco. Wow!

        Re: End of plasma-tv

Always fancied one of the Pioneer Kuro sets but could never afford one, I think plasma always had the best picture but as thecrazybandit has said plasma costs a lot more to run.
Can not see myself buying a curved screen although an Ultra HD set will be high on my list as a future set. The Oled TV market seems to be very slow to take off and I wonder if it ever will.

          Re: End of plasma-tv

I had a Pioneer Kuro in both the 42" and 50" version it was and still is the Best Plasma TV available compared to my 60" Samsung which is not bad but its no Kuro when it comes to displaying Black Levels.

A truly sad day if this is true that Plasma Technology is to end Sport will never be the same again, LCD,LED,OLED is just not up to the job of Plasma when it comes to fast moving action OH! dear a sad day indeed.

Looks like i will have to get used to watching those shadowy black patches when it comes time to upgrade my plasma LOL

Its a pity that they are stopping plasma because you got a TV and a free heater for the room all in one unit.

                Re: End of plasma-tv

I think that the last manufacturer of plasma tv that is left, is the LG and maybe next year will announce that stops the production of plasma tv's.

It's so sad, because plasma tv has the best picture I ever seen and can beat easily any lcd tv.

I have not seen yet oled tv but I have read many articles for them making me to believe that it will be the king of tv's

I agree with that. I own a 42" Panasonic, I've had it for a few years now and can't fault the picture quality.

Plasma technology has the better picture quality.
Because plasma TVs are self-illuminating, the images are beautiful when viewed from any angle. Black areas do not fade, and colours remain almost identical regardless of where the viewer is positioned.

                      That's right my friend

The colors on a plasma tv are perfect and the black is black.... not grey as on the lcd tvs.

Maybe the lcd tvs have made a lot of improvement, but until now they can't reach the picture quality of plasma tvs.

We all hope that oled tvs will have all the advantages of plasma and will be free of the disadvantages of lcd tvs.

That's a main problem - the high energy-cost of this technology.

I have 46 inch samsung plasma tv
I made a mistake for buying this.
                            power consumption high
                            picture bad
