with sly uk cs coming to an end, where to from here?

Thought I'd start a thread for us to discuss our options for when sly uk screens go blank.
Is IPTV an option? How about cable?
Is anyone is able to help out and point us in the right direction?

IPTV is a very strong contender although it is a lot more expensive then cs, many ex-pats
are using this option in Spain, using a mag 250. There is also a paid for E2 plugin which
gives access to to content, tests by people I know have shown this to be very stable and
giving access to all sport channels sly, bien etc and you can subscribe to channels in your
region and a hugh collection of movies to view.

Don't panic......AFAIK it's only the HD channels that will be affected, SD ones should still be OK.

If they want it's possible to stop SD channels too, right? Strange that´s only in HD channels. What will be the next step?

          regards

There is a lot of people still using old sd boxes all those people will have to be offered new hd replacement boxes before they can turn off sd that will not happen over night

Other issue with IPTV is that it uses lot more band width, so if you have a slow broadband connection, you will suffer

yes, you can do as for electricity:

download and record at night shift,
and watch it at prime time

If you dont have a Fibre Connection for IPTV forget it the Lag on those channels are horrendous, If you have a Motorised Dish then you can get everything that is shown on 28.2° east on plenty of other satellites

can a iptv subcription be shared ?

and what about the quality of iptv vs sd (or hd) at prime time ?

You talk about IPTV as a good solution after cqrdsharind, but it's not.

Iptv is good enough now, when all people watch tv with cs, but tomorow when the cs will die the iptv won't be a stable solution because of the overloading.
An IPTV server can't handle many users and it's something differrent from cs.

Another problem is that it's very easy for the autorities to detect the sourse.
You can see what happens in countries with packets that can't be sharred with cs.
The life of a server is from 1 week to 1 month.

So, in my opinion, the IPTV isn't a solution for now.
Maybe after some years that it will "grow up" and get rid of some very serious problems.
