I've had a look around and yes there are a few iptv servers out there, but as stated it is a lot more expensive than cs.
Hopefully with more competition prices might come down.

seems as for sky it it's not a pairing but a change of codes that could be resolved with enigma 3 or new generation of receivers (they talk about mpeg5 for sky hd)

An IPTV server can't handle many users and it's something differrent from cs.

Another problem is that it's very easy for the autorities to detect the sourse.
You can see what happens in countries with packets that can't be sharred with cs.
The life of a server is from 1 week to 1 month.

So, in my opinion, the IPTV isn't a solution for now.
Maybe after some years that it will "grow up" and get rid of some very serious problems.
I fully agree on all your points mate ... let*s hope cs will stay alive. After all, cs would die only if stb firmwares will become 100% close

I thought that the stopping of specifically HD channels is caused due to pairing of card and the box

Are you sure that the problem is coming from the different codes?
Could you please give us more info about that?

one solution is to boycott HD

and continue the venerable good old
            and reliable SD system

A bit of a backward step but if we want to continue watching tv it may well be the only option

Wth the upscalling, that most stb's have, there isn't a great difference between SD and HD on most Sky channels.

If the stb manufacturers does not provide an update to existing boxes or create new compatible boxes their sells will decrease immediately. It's a question of time.

Concerning pairing: there is some providers that have their cards paired to boxes and the cs is possible.

                  regards

If it was codec change it would only affect payload, not ecm processing.
In other words, we would have cw ok and, at the same time, black screen.
But the problem is in decrypted cw, which is wrong ...
I don't know about sly_uk, but I can say for sure that for sly_it it's not a codec change.

Maybe some of HD channels have been gone but the SD channels are still ok as on sly it.

But, I heard that they are planning to stop broadcasting of SD channels and replace them with HD.

If this done, then I think that the end of CS is here

its not so much a Codec as to do with the Video transmission its more to do with how they now interact with the Subtitle/Interactive Red Button channels i did hear someone say its MHEG5 and NOT! MPEG5

Ok, but no one said what's the bandwidth on 540I, 720P and 1080P??
If Fiber optics is must have!? Would some 30/15 Mbps be enough!?

I've been trialing iptv for a few days now and my 30mbps bb was enough for hd.

I would say that even having a connection of 24mbps you wouldn't have any problem for the max quality.

Iptv you can watch easily with a 4 or 8 mbps speed but with SD quality or the HD that the servers claim to be
