This only works with cccam. That's the reason why I use this cam and no other.

depends on the possibilities of your box (afaik closed linux can't be accessed/checked by pc) and the server and where you got it: if it's paid: just ask your provider, if it's free: trial and error ... - if you have one from here: a lot of packages open ... - if you want to know about a specific one: just ask here, sure some good users will confirm whether it's open or not.

The best thing to do is try and see whats open you will find that all the main packages are open atm

Packages for cline will only cover what you can receive in your country, if you are not on the footprint it does not matter whet cline you have, just because a provider says it covers this and that sat, if you are not setup to get a good signal you will not get the packages.
It would be better if you gave the sats that you want to receive so people can give you advice.

It's always better to have a good lock in every door...
I noticed recently that there was, for example, a paranoic fear about sites checking free lines, suspected to steal dontknowwhat treasure, and nobody protects accesses to C*cam, where you have your better private lines...

This is true in any situatiuon, althought I think in this case is a not so at risk.

I obviously consider that STB are in a local LAN, behind Nat and with stateful firewall active on gateway router...teorically no chance to gain access initiating a connection from outside.

I agree, but I'm now motivated to push people to use options in cfg file (I heard too many times in here to say "it's enough you write the C line...") and to think to REAL security risks and precautions and not to silly ones I read a lot of times...

You can use the cccam info page (your box IP:16001)
Hit the button "providers" and you will get all infos you want for your c-line.

Also, you can use the CCcamInfoPHP.
This is an application that can give you much more infos than cccam info page.

Be careful: you can use only one line at a time, or the server will block your IP.
Today I like to correct common forum mistakes...
Usually they say "you will be banned":
That is not true: banning is something that has to do with forum: this is only a technical block on C*cam server, it can easily be removed if you'll correct your lines use.
