Re: HELP! Problems With Skybox F5 Scrambled Channels

The F5 is a good box when it is working but the manufacturing is atrocious
from heat sinks not fitted properly so a little pressure on the top of the box
causing a short circuit, too much solder on the some components also leading
to a short circuit, rant over.
Now back to the topic about the ethernet problem and the reason for my rant,
I helped someone with a similar problem and after going through all the cable,
router, etc.. checks it turned out the problem was that the ethernet port had
a dry joint so was not making a connection, my friend go through all the checks
but my feeling is it might be another manufacturing fault.

I set one up for a mate it worked fine via the ethernet also wifi was easy after entering network key ,i woner if there is a setting you have changed ,but i suspect you are correct there is a fault on the main board.
looking on the bright side it works via the wifi and gives you free tv its still good for the bucks you paid however it would be less glitchy and offer better ecm times on ethernet, and like the rest of us your next one will be better eh.

I'm starting to regret using the wifi adapter now. As I'm finding that it's affecting the wireless signal on my laptop. I think the close proximity of the wifi adapter is taking most of the signal.

I'm thinking of updating to a Technomate TM 5402, will I be able to get a 7 day EPG with the sky channels on it. Instead of the Now and Next of Sky F5?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use a laptop as a bridge? And if so how? I've had a look but can't find anything.

                Hi Steve,

I think you need a crossover cable from sat box to laptop, then bridge the connections in the network connections/settings section.

When you use wifi you have conversion time which slows things down and slower speed in general, much better to hard wire with ethernet lead to router.
Sat boxes receive small amounts og data to run from the server unlike x boxes so it should'nt slow things down ,.

If your thinking of buying a new receiver try to buy one that has good support and is likely to have updates for a very long time.
Dm 800 or Vu solo something along those lines that loads of guys have.
