Re: HELP! Problems With Skybox F5 Scrambled Channels

Hey guys!!!! Well I have ordered a wifi Skybox adapter from amazon, one that has an aerial attached.

Unfortunately the BT Hub is at the other end of the caravan and the Satellite aerial runs through my bedroom. The original TV aerial is being used in the living room for the Youview where the BT Hub is.
I have backed up everything on the box and done a factory reset and then upgraded with the Image file that came with the device. Apart from Astra 1C and Eurobird 4A should I be doing other aerial searches as well? And which ones are best?

it depends where your dish is looking. the best satelites are the one that has the channels you like to watch.

You can get long ethernet cables very cheaply from eBay.

        Like this 10m for £1.45!

Unfortunately our caravan is 37 feet long and wouldn't be practical. I'm going to have to wait and see how well the wireless adapter works when I receive it. However I know got connection, but I just don't understand why I can't get the c-lines to show online

A 10mtr ethernet cable would be fine for you if you could find a way to run it perhaps under the caravan ,it is a much better way to do it ,WIFI just slows the connection down ,if you get freezing or glitches go direct with a cable, can you see the line details that you entered into the box ,there might be a code you have to enter on the remote to see cline details .
            Good luck with it

Did u say you tried lines from other payed servers and they did not work, so it looks like a connection problem then?

Nah it's too much bother, plus it would mean me having to drill a hole through the caravan floor or wall. I know I have been having some sort of connection as I did have Login appearing in place of Offline. Well my PS3 has excellent wireless signal to the router at the other end of the caravan.

Nope, haven't had any appearing online at all, on Login at times.

You have connected your stb to laptop using ethernet port therefore when you
ping you will get a response but that does not mean you are connecting to the
internet. Have you tried to get the new firmware for your stb this will fix the
******* issue therefore if you are still not able to connect to it then you will
know you are not connecting to the internet.
From other users I have found that the wifi option is not very good on the F5
a little more expensive but home plugs seems to be the best option for you.

Re: HELP! Problems With Skybox F5 Scrambled Channels

I support the option of using wi-fi to connect to the receiver, of course wired connection works safer, but in the house of the cable should be found for the repair, then all is good, but after repair in the house of drilling of the wall is a bad option.

Re: HELP! Problems With Skybox F5 Scrambled Channels

I prefer a wired connection for certainty.

Would a 15m or 20m ethernet cable do the job, and use the same holes where the satellite coax comes in the bedroom and the TV aerial or phone line come in the living room to run the cable outside the caravan?

What about homeplugs? I've always found them to be a very good option.

I got a couple of Homeplugs Simpler Network they called. with my Youview Box.
Today I borrowed a neighbours Sky Card and put it in my machine. It bought up the Sky Channels that the neighbour is subscribed to. So I know the Dish in fine and the signal. I tried my box around their house. I tried a few c-lines there and just got Login's no Online.

Ok well I have tried the Homeplugs that came with my Youview box, Brilliant they work. Managed to get internet working on my laptop using just the Homeplugs. So now got to sort out getting the servers to work.

I had the same problem on my skybox when I entered the c-lines manually, once I figured out how to update via the usb they worked fine. What worked for me was saving my c-line as a CCcam.cfg file and not a text file (save as type: All Files - not -Text Documents) and then I was able login...

check if you network setting is correct(subnet gateway etc..) I recommend you to set it to use DHCP and you see if it receive IP adresse.
