I must admit that i only get .37mb upload speed but i was told that didn't matter so long as ping speeds were good which they are

      Re: Intermittent freezing

I agree that upload speed is not critical for cs ... ecm requests require only a few bytes.
On the contrary, ping speed is critical, but you said you have stable ping responses.
Just to summarize, your problem must fall necessarily in one of these items:
      - network connection
      - the box itself
      - server

      Network connection
As long as you have stable ping responses (use -t option !) your network is definitely ok.

      The box
Double check your cs software configs.
Also double check you don't have cpu peaks (use "top" command to monitor from a command shell)

      Server
Don't take it for granted ... you can be 100% sure a server is ok only if you are the admin of that server

        Re: Intermittent freezing

freezing is mosly associated with free overloaded servers

I have an Amiko Alien 8900SHD and I have tried and tried but still get a lot of freezing. Let me first state all the different things i have tried.

          Firstly ping speeds <50ms

I have tried several different clines from different servers.
I have tried 3 different routers
I have tried 3 different filters
          I have tried different images
I have tried in both enigma & spark

i looked on my router settings this morning and it appears that my wifes android phone is assigning itself the same ip address as my box in wifi mode. Is there any way i can run the box without DHCP mode running so i can change the ip address manually. Will it still work and how do i do it.

Is this likely to be causing the problem. It will run fine for a while and then start freezing and if i restart the router it will work again for a while and then start freezing again. I have only just noticed that she leaves her phone constantly in wifi mode.
Have you tried your amiko alien in another house? Could be a problem of your receiver.

If you try in different house you only change dish/lnb and internet connection ... the receiver stays the same

Yes, but in that way you are sure if it' s a problem of decoder or not.

If the problem is in the server and you change the house (with no results) how can you tell if it's the decoder or not ?

when you say you try many clines, are you talking about free clines from the internet? (like satlovers server3)

                    I think dear @rikksow
                    you must start the tests

As others said you must remove your box to another house with other connection to test it, as well as you can take the box of your friend to make some tests in your house.
In this way you will be sure for many things and I believe that you will find the answer of your problem.
Finaly test more good lines to be sure that you don't have problem form them.

                      Re: Intermittent freezing

A bad router or bad comunciacion ADSL, usually produce micro cuts, which then affect the good decoding

are you sure you have the latest firm on the router? and use cable instead of wifi or homeplugs. As said by others: try and test some things out ...

Unfortunately its not as easy as that as i don't know anyone where i live that has a set up. I have two lines from two different (premium servers) and all the test lines i have tried have been from premium servers. I used to have a Satlover premium server which was just the same. I have tried 3 different routers, 3 different filters, numerous images and still the same.

I also use a direct ethernet cable from the router not wifi or home plugs and my router has the latest firmware

                            Sorry rikksow,
so I could think that you have a slow ADSL connection.
                            Did you check ADSL speed?
                            Regards

                              Re: Intermittent freezing

problem could be the server of the lines or the users and not the router or internet connection, because its such little datas which will be transmitted
                              Please push thanks.

For me the problem is in your Amiko, try your connection and server with another receiver.
