    Intermittent freezing

    This is really frustrating me.

I have an Amiko Alien 8900SHD and I have tried and tried but still get a lot of freezing. Let me first state all the different things i have tried.

    Firstly ping speeds <50ms

I have tried several different clines from different servers.
I have tried 3 different routers
I have tried 3 different filters
    I have tried different images
I have tried in both enigma & spark

i looked on my router settings this morning and it appears that my wifes android phone is assigning itself the same ip address as my box in wifi mode. Is there any way i can run the box without DHCP mode running so i can change the ip address manually. Will it still work and how do i do it.

Is this likely to be causing the problem. It will run fine for a while and then start freezing and if i restart the router it will work again for a while and then start freezing again. I have only just noticed that she leaves her phone constantly in wifi mode.

    Re: Intermittent freezing

Are you using some dhcp address and some fixed address ? If you have ip conflict usually is a problem of router config and not a problem of devices

        Is your ping stable?
Try ping with -t parameter and you will see ...

            Re: Intermittent freezing

I believe that the problem of freezing isn't caused by a conflict.
If you have IP conflict you will not have connection at all.

so, I think you must look at your receiver.
            Check your cams.
Try different version of cccam or try, as other mate said , the mgcamd.

            Finaly,
if your receiver has function that can disable the DHCP, do it and give a manual IP to your receiver.

              Re: Intermittent freezing

Ok further to my earlier comment I am using MGCamd 1.38 but have tried MgCamd 1.35 & CCCam 2.14. I have turned off the wifi to my wifes phone and it has not made much different. Ping seems to be stable around 56ms

Not sure what or how to use t parameter and i know my receiver will allow me to use it without dhcp enabled but i don't know how to set it up

                ping [host] -t

Pings the specified host until stopped.
                To see statistics and continue - Type Control-Break;
                To stop - press Ctrl + C.

                  Hi rikksow,

I remember that you could assign even mac adress instead of ip.
Try to check on your router if this is possible.
                  Good luck!

Ok mate ... it was a joke ...
Now seriously: ip conflict can give the behavior you described but dhcp server should take care that it never happens.
You can set your dhcp server to assign ip addresses in a given range (such as 192.168.1.100 . 192.168.1.200) and set a static ip address to you box outside this range (example, 192.168.1.20).
In this way you will be sure there are no ip conflicts.

                    Bye

                      Re: Intermittent freezing

I have tried using my box with dhcp disabled and it won't work. When i go on my router settings my box does not even show up on my DHCP client list. This is so infuriating and not being very computer savvy doesn't make it any better. I must say it works better on some packages than others. Sly uk is pracitcally unwatchable wheras the like of Digiturk will go maybe 45 mins before breaking up. I have two separate servers and they are both the same. I have had the wifes wifi turned off all day and still no better.

Ping is perfectly stable any other suggestions?

                          Re: Intermittent freezing

Maybe the problem is the lines you use.
Have ever seen your receiver working ok?
Do you have other receiver to test the line you have?
There are several servers that can give you a test line for 24h.
If you have the same problem, then you must something change to your receiver (settings, image, cams).

why not try your receiver on another internet connection. i don't think it has any thing to do with your wife's phone i have many devices using WiFi on my connection never a problem.

If the problem is becuase of the internet connection then a lot depends on the upload speed. You will need around 0.5mb upload to get a decent connection without anything else using that connection. If you get 3MB upload it means it is not that.
