Re: Snr & agc
Perhaps a little example can help:
If you have a weak signal (weak in signal strength and low snr) you won't have pic and sound. Now you try to raise the signal strength with an amplifier/repeater you will have more signal strength but you have also raised the disturbtions/hiss/whitenoise of the signal so you did not raise the quality of the signal.
Only a high signal strength is not usefull. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Please be clearer. I can't understand what you mean.Comment

Re: Snr & agc
When setting up the satellite dish is that the signal is good and the quality of the signal is low, the need to further adjust the satellite dish to receive a good signal quality. This is from the experiments installation of satellite dishes.
Sorry for bad English. My second language is GermanComment

Re: Snr & agc
+ additional: a good cable with good connections, and of course (said previously): is your dish big enough (check with footprint on eg satbeams - will give you a theoretical idea).Comment

Re: Snr & agc
AGC = Automatic Gain Control I thought the value indicated how much the signal is amplified, ie, a low value of AGC indicating good / short cables to the switch / LNB and fine tuned satellite dish?helped use "Thanks"

Re: Snr & agc
Sorry if the question wasn't clear enough. What I meant to ask: are there different factors that affect snr and agc? I am trying to understand why agc would be high on some channels but the reception is bad.Comment
