Don't think you'll find it as cheap as €5.
My idea is to use satelitte internet connection has a backup of primary (cable) line.
So I'm searching an ISP that has no monthly fees because this is a backup line so it will use few, theoretically never.

No, you need another line (like analog 56K telephone line) only if you but a service broadcasted on KU band (the same of satellite television), if you buy a system broadcasted over KA band you have also the upload ability.

With KU system you can use your standard dish and LNB and you can able to receive satellite television and internet with the same hardware and the same wiring (your modem is like an stb).
If you buy a KA-band system you need a dedicated connection to modem and a different lnb (normally in the packet you buy you have LNB, dish and modem), but you cannot watch TV because there's no KA-band TV's channels - except one Duch channel on Eurobird 9°E.

      Re: Satellite Internet?

Really, as far as I know, at least UK TVs will move to KA band.
Anyway the difference is between two generations of sat-internet connections: older ones had no uplink to sat, but telephone line for upload, newer ones make all by satellite.

For sending inquiries for the satellite Internet the fixed telephone network for the modem or 3G the modem is all the same necessary

Wow, what a response, sorry for the delay in replying.
I am looking at Tooway 8 mb download speed, 8 gb a month allowance, UK IP address, £139.00 for the equipment and £24.50 a month, looking good.
Anyone had any experience of this company?

You're wrong: most recent offers are two-ways satellite.
If you understand italian you can read for example this one, but since the name is the same, I think that what nml said is the same:
            _http://www.open-sky.it/tooway/tooway-e
            At the beginning:
"Tooway è il nuovo servizio internet via satellite in grado di portare la banda larga fino a 18Mbps in tutta Italia, anche nelle zone non coperte da rete telefonica."
It says "even in areas not served by telephone lines"
As a matter of facts it's used also for example in high mountains.
And the kit allows also to receive TV channels...

Yes Herr you correct it is two way the company just happens to be Tooway snd it appears to be available in many countries.
The only thing worrying me now are the long ping times typically 600-800 ms this may be the sticking point.

Those ping times will be a sticking point i think. In my experience you want to try keep it as low as possible, with anything under 100 ms being optimum.
my ping times are generally in the region of 15 ms- 30 ms on my fibre optic broadband.

                    Re: Satellite Internet?

Just remember, internet via sat is a special way for those, who don't have another choice. You must agree the higher ping time, price and the additional equipment. But as nml said, at the moment it seems to be a good alternative or his only way for a better connection.

                    Possible solution:

                    ___skydsl.eu/

                    or perhaps:

                    - stardsl

                    - satspeed

                    __satconnect.com/

You can't have a low ping because you use satellite in space, so your signal must cover a long way to the first network node, much more than it does with a DSL line, or better yet, with a fiber-optic network. It's simple, it's physic.

I know that ping times would be higher with satellite broadband, I was simply saying that these high ping times might cause problems. That is also why I recommended 3g broadband as a possible alternative.

                            Re: Satellite Internet?

Only a littel calculate for the transmitting time:

                            to satellite: 36000km
                            from satellite: 36000km
                            ---------
                            72000km

                            means 72000km / 300000km/sec (speed of light)

= 240ms only for transmitting the signal by sat.
If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!

Its always handy when you go to Spain then shop around and see whats available. If you are not good with Spanish Language then there are loads of English companies who offer the same service in Spain. You book it in England and then do all the work for you in Spain.
Have a look at the website, they even give you free equipment which can save you £££.

Yes they sell the same service Tooway so the ping time should be the same that's the one I have been looking at but through Bentley Walker in the Uk which is 12.00 per month cheaper and provides a Uk ip address but you pay £139.00 for the hardware.

But the question is. Will the long ping time 600=800ms work OK with clines?

I speak Spanish fluently and I can get adsl but it is very expensive in Spain plus if I come back to the UK I can bring the dish back with me.
