QPSK and 8PSK are proposed for broadcast applications, and can be used in non-linear transponders driven near to saturation.
16APSK and 32APSK are used mainly for professional, semi-linear applications, but can also be used for broadcasting .

All DVB-S2 receivers can receive HD. Some of the receivers will be capable of QPSK but they won't receive 8PSK unless its mentioned in their user manual.
Although QPSK and 8PSK both are HD.
Hi, you're right of course and sorry for my English, not so bad...but very basic
As a matter of facts I hadn't before the time to find words to say that this standard is old, but in some nations not extensively implemented until about two years ago.
My country (Italy) is one of these and trust me that the number of DVB-S2 receivers is still very very little

On qpsk signals the cosinus roll-off factor is ~0,35, on 8psk signals ~0,2 is used. A lower factor makes it more difficult to recieve the correct signal. This factor is used to form a wave/signal. A lower factor means a higher datarate but you need a better equipment for correct recieving.

i myself have had many problems for sometime now with hd chns, have tried many things and spent to day, trying this and that but manage to cure.
perhaps it might help your set-up? lets hope.

i use a spiderbox7000, and i had 8 cccam lines in box, after trying many things i ended up just leaving only 2 lines in box, but (2 best ones), that sorted it, now all hd chns come through quick.
hope this might help you, or even others, looks like having many lines in box can cause quite a lot of conflicktion.

I think gcms is trying to receive HB from the sub continent. The dish size could be a the main problem but I think the real problem here is the dish is not correctly alligned. Its not correctly pointed to the satellite. Some frequencies are a lot sensitive than the others.

8PSK modulation requires higher s/n then same parameters with QPSK modulation.
Maybe your dish is too little or is not corectly pointed.

Supertennis HD have no problems for me. Anyway, I can tell you, when I purchased my SkyStar HD2, it was defective because I only could tune SD channels. So the seller changed it for me and then all works fine.
But last days, I have noticed that Aljazeera Sports HD at Nilesat 7 West, is impossible to receive, so I have changed to HB in order to receive this signal and now all it is OK.
Test if you have problems only at HB with HD channels because it could be a problem with your sat box receiver (or your diseqC device).
    Best regards.

I gave information in that linked thread, but I've already said that these problems as far as I know didn't involve 8psk transponders

I would suggest to borrow another box from a friend and check if you still get the same problem? Also we need to know about your DISEqC switch.

Some boxes have problems in recieving 8psk channels. Perhaps you are able to test it with 8psk transponders on other satellits.
In that case there's nothing you can do.
Or you need to readjust your dish a bit and use the sensitive transponders for an optimal signal.
