Is it possible to convert a raw satstream to dvd-format so that it can be played on a standard dvd-player? I mean the raw-stream, not a recorded program from a dvd-recorder.

Re: Convert Sat-Stream to DVD
I don't know how Fireflyer does record streams.
I record streams with the dbox2 and udrec or the pvr function in my receiver to hdd.
But I don't know a simple converter which simply converts a ts or basic stream to a dvd.
Especial the cutting (begin, end, advertising...) needs special software.
I use cuttermaran.
If you have the correct streams, IfoEdit is a good solution to convert them to video dvd.Comment

Re: Convert Sat-Stream to DVD
I agree with you, some months ago I tested about 10 freeware programs (+ some shareware ) and as far as I remember I didn't find anything good and in the end I gave up.
So: me too really interested in TS cutter + converter (my main box only records TS-files).
Thanks guysComment

Re: Convert Sat-Stream to DVD
I cut my TS files with Video Redo no problems.
I just browse for the files in my network from video redo and save the cut file to my htpc or my vu+ duo hard drive.
It's not freeware, but then again i didn't pay for itComment

Re: Convert Sat-Stream to DVD
There are two types of video streams you can take from sat - mpeg2 and h264, both of these video streams may be combined with mpa soundtrack, h264 video may come with ac3 stream. These stream types except h264 can be multiplexed to dvd without re-encoding. All you need is to demux transport stream with TSmuxer and author dvd with muxman or ifoedit. h264 video stream must be indexed first with dgindex to get the avisynth script and re-encoded with hcenc. Then you'll get mpeg2 stream to use to author dvd. If you have a blueray player, h264+mpa or ac3 can be used to make an avchd disk compatible with your player using AnyAVCHD.
All the software mentioned here is a freeware and it's the best that can be used for this kind of task. But you have to know this software.
If anyone is interested - I can teach how to make DVD with any menus.Comment

Re: Convert Sat-Stream to DVD
Another Problem is the length of the file if you have to write the files to a singel layer dvd, which are the most used. If you have a film with 5 GB you have to shrink it to 4,5 GB. One good solution is DVDshrink (freeware) - nearly no quality loose by shrinking.Comment

Thanks for your reply - I'm definitely interested. As said, I gave up right now (no time) to search any further - if you can show, I would really appreciate it.
My biggest problem is my main box (needs format FAT32) only records TS-file form (not sure) about 1,G GB ; so 1 recorded movie gives +/- 4 different files - so what I need to do is: put the files together, cut intro, cut some advertising, cut the end and in the end burn on dvd. As already said earlier in other posts: my combination of stb + external HDD isn't very stable (loose everything each few months) -> so copying onto dvd would be very handy!
Thanks.Comment
