      Personally I use a wi-fi bridge extender with 5 ports (_http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=348&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=5)

I then use this for my Spiderbox, Xbox and Raspberry Pi all in one device! It's easy to setup and cost me less than 20 squid so can't fault it really.

Personally PRO... I have an Netgear WNR2000v3 an a single Devolo 200+ and it works fine. The AC power adapter connects the Netgear Router to homeplug. You dont need an extra plug

That works both ways bro ,iam sure if the radio ham was causing the interference he would go out of his way to resolve the situation .
I would its nice to be nice.

What I'm getting at is that I don't think it'll cause any interference at all.
so if the op were to get the homeplugs the radio ham wouldn't know the difference.

I know that BT open world caused radio Hams huge problems the dti's solution was to deregulate Amateur radio and drop the yearly license fee so they could wash their hands of all responsibility and save millions sorting it out ,so a lot of the radio guys just packed the hobby in .
Back in the 50's wireless radio was a great hobby but really its had its day when a kid can talk to anywhere in the world on a mobile phone.

Does anyone know how to set one as a host and one as a receiver. I'm gonna have a look and see if theres life in any of the boxes i have left but i fear that if two of them still work then they are either gonna be both hosts or both receivers. It would be just my luck

The solwise plugs I have don't need setting as host or receiver.
You just plug them in, press the connect button so that they talk to eachother and away you go.

just ******d this maybe he write
                    The Problem with Powerline Adapters?

There is one inherent problem with Powerline adapters, and that's that they can cause interference to short wave radio reception.

HomePlug adapters are often referred to as PLT (Power Line Telecommunication) devices, and shortwave radio enthusiasts claim that they can effectively turns your home into a low-powered transmitter, as your home's mains cabling radiates a low-power "noise" in the band used by short wave radio (2Mhz to 30Mhz).

If you're using a Powerline adapter and you have a radio amateur living two or three doors away, you may be broadcasting noise on a frequency he's using for his hobby. The interference can radiate out around 100 metres. There's also evidence that Powerline adapters can cause interference to FM and DAB radio reception.

Does this mean your opting for a length of ethernet cable rather than homeplugs hen crazy??

There's also the possibility that Ham operator may play havoc with your homeplug communications . Don't forget frequency harmonics .

thats the fault of the manufactures then, they should have conducted there tests properly so no interference is caused to any other devices, i myself just use cable, each have there own choice on the matter.

When the Government can create a situation where there is going to be interference on a grand scale and pussy foot around it the way they are, what chance has the man in the street got unless he works with his neighbour to sort out problems. Personally I use hard wired ethernet.

J still have all my ham gear but as has been said many of us have stopped using it. I did try homeplugs , one on the upstairs ring and one downstairs, I did notice I get better ping times with a wired solution, not much better but noticeable sometimes.
