Re: Satellite choices
@ rikksow,i'm not too sure about planning permission, but I would recommend a 1.2m. and a motor, don't rush into it,take your time and do it right.Comment

Re: Satellite choices
You would not need a planning permission if its in your garden. You can install as bigger dish as you like but make sure that your neighbours have no problem with it. The planning permission rules have been relaxed recently. You can also avoid planning permission if your background is from another country and you need a bigger dish to receive your local channels. If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Re: Satellite choices
w2a@10east is mainly a turnaround/feed circuit bird and although there are quite a few gems available open atm with b.i.s.s. keys this can and probably will end soon and may/may not become available again. if your saying your looking for general, movies and sports and are saving for a motorised dish then a gibertini 1m, stab 100 and inverto black ultra would be my choice and will get you 90% of whats available for normal money and last you 10+ years. its better to buy quality now than in a couple of years when your cheap stuff has given up the ghost. 1.2m dishes are great but dont come cheap and really require a 36v motor, c120 lnb and feedhorn and a heavy duty wall mount/grount mount and you wont get much change from £500, not to mention the installation and having jodrel bank on your house/neighbours moaning. regards mdtVU+UNO B.H. 1.7.6

Re: Satellite choices
Hi rikksow. Just one advice from me as I have motorised 1.2m dish. Definitely go for 1.2m dish, because if U are not experienced with mounting the whole system, U will never mount the motor perfectly, so your signal will be weaken on some satelites and the fact that England is mostly cloudy and rainy, I think the bigger size of a dish will cover that gaps. Consider that as the difference in price for bigger dish is only few $ for something U will use for years...Comment

Re: Satellite choices
My 1.2 dish and motor set me back £20 from a well known auction site. I know they won't last like Stab (or even darkmotor!) but they work.
Yes, I needed some help from the good people on here to get set up but that's what friends are for hey?
And when I'm flush I can upgrade the components bit by bit.Comment

If you can provide documentation that proves otherwise I'd love to see it as if currently breaking planning permission with my two dishes and one tv aerial and it might save me changing my setup.Comment

Re: Satellite choices
I must admit i have been monitoring a certain internet auction site and i think i may go down the piecemeal way getting it piece by piece which is why initially i was going to go down the monoblock route, but then i got so confused. I think for the time being i will see what comes along on the said site. I do think however that i will try and get a 1.2m dishComment

Re: Satellite choices
Yeah i think i'll check the council website first, don't live in area of natural beauty or cons area. Live in a bungalow and my house is pretty much screened by tall trees but i have a large garden so i have good line of site but am not overlooked at all so should be okComment
