not all avi's use the same codecs. my suggestion is, try several other avi files u have and see if none of them play or some od them do. pls report back what happens.

How big is the file, spiderbox only supports files upto 4 gig because it is a fat 32 system

Unfortunately I found the Homestreaming quite limiting on the Spiderbox as the other limitation is the inability to change the aspect ratio when the file is being played.

Most boxes today mainly use TS (transport stream) Don't they?

When I recorded anything that I wanted to put onto a dvd disc I had to first convert the files.

I convert to "XVid MPEG-4 Codec (AVI)" to stream to spiderbox.

Hi Guys, thanks for all of your suggestions, I have tried various sized files, some either just play the audio with no video, and others will play audio and video but only for a few seconds before stopping. I will experiment with different files and report back, thanks

hopefully in the next spiderbox firmware, all the other codecs will be supported. and even mkv files.

It needs the next generationof spider to be programed for New Technology File System, ntfs or there will still be a problem with file sizes.

Noypi, that would be nice but I wouldn't count your chickens as I suspect the support for the Spiderbox is likely to reduce in the future. I also understand that part of the problem is that the codecs aren't open source.

I do have a good solution to streaming but there doesn't seem any point in making decent replys to post's anymore, mine keep getting deleted!

                            Re: Spiderbox Home streaming

Waste of time streaming on a spider breaks up and loses connection with these boxes. You also must have correct media streamer or it will not work at all. I spend several days looking into it when I first received my box.
